ttartisan_af75_f2TTArtisan AF 75mm f/2

Pros: Construction, sharpness, blurry

Cons: Nothing

Opinion: In my opinion, this lens proves how the most famous companies take us for the ass. Yes, because finding yourself in your hands for less than two hundred euros a lens of this optical quality, beautiful, perfectly built, all in metal, with a good autofocus, a textbook blur, with the aperture ring jerky by a third, a lens hood that attaches perfectly (and it is not so obvious) and the USB socket for updating directly on the cap you will agree with me that it is not so common. He says "yes, but they are Chinese brands that are worth nothing afterwards". Commercially it is true so if you buy the lenses to make financial speculations do not buy them, but if you take photographs of them this one does divinely and badly that goes over time it will devalue at most by less than two hundred euros. I mount it on Zf and Z8 and use it mainly for portraits: a real pleasure.

viltrox_af20_f2-8Viltrox AF 20mm f/2.8

Pros: Compactness, construction, cost, performance

Cons: For me, no one

Opinion: Like everyone else, I read reviews, including votes, and when I saw the rating that was given to this lens (8.3) I thought it was practically a glass with a cap. And I thought very badly. I certainly don't want to say that it's the ultimate lens, but in the evaluations you should consider everything, not just the benchmarks because it seems pretty clear that a lens over a thousand euros (e.g. the 20 Nikon) will probably be better than this one that costs 180. However, for a possible amount, you put in your bag a light, small, very well made glass with excellent performance. Seeing is believing. I read about flares and aberrations. Two problems that, if there were, don't exist for me, since I often go looking for flare and remove aberrations with a click. I strongly believe that in a Nikon Z kit (I have Z8 and Zf) it cannot be missing and can live happily and without any inferiority complex with lenses that cost more than ten times as much.

nikon_zfNikon Zf

Pros: All

Cons: Against what?

Opinion: I've always thought that Nikon represents, more than anyone, the tradition and culture of photography itself. I have long hoped that it would build on its history and this record, but it has missed too many trains and has allowed itself to be cornered by Sony, perfect machines but without warmth, without history, and with embarrassing ergonomics. Finally, after creating the best DSLR ever, the 850, he has also put the arrow in the mirrorless world with Z9 and Z8 first, and now with this ZF, which a true nikonist will not be able to miss. Beautiful, beautiful, more similar to the F3 than to the FM2, it conveys a pleasant feeling of solidity and significantly improves the performance of the Z6ii, a car that is already good even if rather underrated. However, beyond any technical consideration, here there is an emotional factor that wins over everything, especially for photographers who, like me, were also there in the 70s. For me, it is definitive and indispensable.

nikon_z8Nikon Z8

Pros: Ergonomics, file quality, autofocus, speed.

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: I have been a Nikonist for almost half a century, so I confess that my evaluation could be a little bit conditioned by my unwavering faith. I fell in love with it because it is the only machine that sticks to the hand and does not come off anymore. For ergonomics and for the sake of holding it, qualities that I have not found in any other machine, not at this level of pleasure. And yes, I have had, and used, several. Just to say, the Sony in my opinion, certainly technically advanced, in the hands do not fit: bite. I was, and still am, a loyal D850, certainly the best DSLR ever built, but I had not yet made the jump to the Z series, except for a Z6II that I still kept and use with Voigtlander lenses. The Nikon Z8 is in my opinion the equivalent of the D850 for mirrorless, a bit as if Nikon had decided to put the arrow and leave them all there. A bit late, perhaps, but that's fine with me. There is this story of calls, not too pleasant, but the rainy season will come and I will also be able to do without it for a few days. It will be like buying it again, but this time without spending a euro. Small update: I sent the machine to service for the recall of the rings. Returned after the strictly technical times, collected on Tuesday and returned the following Tuesday, the invoice generically indicates the revision of the belt attachment. In my opinion, as in most cases, they simply subjected the attacks to a tensile test that evidently showed no anomalies. On the net I could not see a single video that highlighted the defect, but I must have been careless. In any case, the machine is formidable.

panasonic_s20-60Panasonic Lumix S 20-60mm f/3.5-5.6

Pros: A stroke of genius, the new standard for the landscaper and not only

Cons: Given what it costs, especially taking it in kit with the S5, nothing at all

Opinion: It's small, lightweight and damn versatile. It should become the new basic zoom of each kit. Quite sharp and with a good blurred, it will not be very bright but go around with 24-70 2.8. At 20 then, with its minimum focusing distance, it offers an exceptional versatility and allows shots that would otherwise require the second and third lenses to carry around. I use it on the Panasonic S5 and I find it to be a really definitive pairing.

panasonic_s5Panasonic S5

Pros: All

Cons: Nothing

Opinion: I am a Nikonist, but I have used, and use, all the systems. This machine amazed me because, without pulling too much as other brands do, it offers a very high technology, partly conveyed by the too underestimated Micro4/3 system. Its color rendering, especially at high iso, is among the best I have ever encountered, the ergonomics are excellent, and as a nikonist I am quite demanding, and the camera fits like a glove, and then the stabilization at the top, the adjustable display, the high-resolution shots, a boon for landscapers, the dual iso, the exceptional video qualities that make it in fact the best hybrid on the market for me. And the price, which now makes the purchase of an aps rather strange, certainly not very convenient. And again the L mount mount that places it in a pole of absolute level, with Leica and Sigma, and allows it to use the new Sigma DG DN C optics, such as the 24, 35 and 90, small metal jewels of exceptional quality. I had the opportunity to compare the 35 with a Leica for more than four thousand euros mounted on an SL2 and I did not notice appreciable differences. I read about criticisms of the viewfinder, which will not be stellar but nothing that does not prevent you from seeing the masterpieces, and the double speed of the cards, completely irrelevant in practice for me. If it gives me so much, when the S2 arrives, the real professional after the dress rehearsal of the S1 and derivatives, there will be fun.
