nikon_35dxNikon AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8 G

Pros: price/performance ratio

Cons: nothing taking into account the Pro

Opinion: I use it on 1V3 clearly equipped with FT1, it performs well in most situations (and conditions). Given the new 170 Euro, the excursion 1,8>22 (3,5>14 gives the best of itself) with a little attention (and malice) does what it has to do and does it quite well. Lightweight, compact and reliable AF and also right in docking times as long as the light remains at acceptable levels.

sony_a9_iiSony A9 II

Pros: LEAVE YOU SPEECHLESS!

Cons: LEAVE THE DESIRE OF ITSELF!

Opinion: what to say, I had the chance to "play" it for an hour and......................... does impossible things!!! And it is (for me) impossible to tell the technical performance because it is like climbing as a normal driver on a Formula 1 single-seater! You enjoy the performance knowing that they are well above your own mastering possibilities. I can only say that to have the money I would have given everything immediately away for her!!! Equipped with FE 85mm f/1.4 GM I could tell his (extraordinary) owner that I simply never saw anything like it. Playing with his menu................ For the first 10 minutes it seems like a labyrinth then but if you "take care" of habits (I Nikon) you understand the philosophy that then as it is obvious that it requires application, time and above all desire. Anyway................ simply perfect even if it remains the opinion of a very normal amateur

nikon_50_f1-8eNikon 50mm f/1.8 Series E

Pros: Old school

Cons: Old School

Opinion: an optics with the merits and defects of the optics of 40 years ago made "human" in the costs that at the time were reserved for the Nikkor Series E, precisely cheaper but also less performing. However, after 40 years and maybe with an extension type PK11/PK11A comes in handy for macros of good quality also because equipped with the diaphragm ring with "drag" and therefore guarantees the display also on the Nikon modern reflex and here if you need it from time to time you find a discreet macro in the bag. At F/1.8 there is not to expect the 1.8 goals from "one milliondollars" but it helps there in certain cases of light, then to F/2.8 it seriously portrays. The focus ring has the right fluidity and a hike consistent with a 50mm. For those who want a 52mm filleted lampshade is produced and sold for a few euros also made of metal, which gives the 50F1.8 a Pro-in-salsa-vintage look

nikon1_10-30pdNikon 1 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 VR PD-Zoom

Pros: VIDEO, AF-C video

Cons: Nothing

Opinion: the "base" of the 1V3 from which miracles cannot be expected. It's just AF, and being an F/3.5-5.6 will not behave for obvious reasons as a "serious" wide-angle but does make the kind of photographs that teach you to use the 1V3 well. Where instead it seems to transform from baby to mature is in the video field, there gives way to use the 1V3 for "catalog" and videotutorial shooting especially if you need precision with AF Continuo helping in those situations from easel and presentation of a "something" without the help of other people. Honest standard equipment for the 1V3

nikon1_10-100vrNikon 1 VR 10-100mm f/4.0-5.6

Pros: Handyman

Cons: Nothing

Opinion: 1V3, which covers 75% of the use for which this machine was born. Only AF objective, and also equipped with an excellent AF Continuous. From 1 to 10 does almost everything always with validity 6.5 then clear it expects more F-Mount and FF targets and then the 1V3 also proves to know how to do on The Serious. The 1VR10-100mmF/4.0-5.6 gives the best of itself if held around F/8 especially when using between 28>60mm resulting in very sharp between 35.85mm. A good all-rounder

nikon_afs58gNikon AF-S 58mm f/1.4 G

Pros: image veracity

Cons: Price

Opinion: had for a year and used on D800 where it makes a difference! It makes you find out what both You and Him can be capable of. Colors, fire, bokeh, white/black, depth, detail, F/1.4 really exploitable at 1.4................when I see his photos I hate my other goals. The results of matrix exposure are perfect if there is ever perfect exposure. On the D800 for trestle-like photos, it improves even more in LiveView. Defects? The cost, but............... it's the only lens that made me understand the real capabilities of the D800. Sold with great regret..........

nikon_d800Nikon D800

Pros: Nikon Milestone

Cons: "Stressful" with underperforming lenses

Opinion: everything was said about you for better or for worse. I can only say that with the objective "right" and understood to be worthy of the sensor after almost 10 years its portraits or landscapes remain difficult to even and almost impossible to beat. If you then portray a rustic interior with a fireplace................ his picture seems to give rise to the fire that seems to give off heat. The D800 is as robust as a tank, and is the same feeling you get when handling the D3, D4 and D5. I believe that today the Nikon "non-D-superPro" are not similarly robust construction, or at least do not turn out to give the same perception. His biggest flaw? It is, and remains to require "big" optics to demonstrate what it is capable of! Alternatively you have to "get along"! A small anecdote: one day per game using as a test bench a Zeiss Otus 28mm f/1.4 we clearly compare in the same easel composition the D800 and the D850 both set by canceling NR, VR and setting PC Neutral and Matrix exposure e................... my cousin, owner of both the D850 and the extraordinary Zeiss, was stunned by the D800, which under certain conditions (composition-light-lens) can take incredible photos where by incredible you mean a jpg ready to prints "huge and impressive". A great machine to love especially for those two or three "things" that literally does in its own way in the "right" hands that are definitely not mine! Why keep having it? I would say why spending a million dollars if the result as a perceptible accretive diference is not worth at least one-fifth of the million dollars it would be foolish to replace it! If I had the money I would take a D850 and why not, even a D6, but............. without even thinking remotely about depriving myself of the D800. This is his best value; makes you fall in love forever!

nikon_35_f2dNikon AF 35mm f/2 D

Pros: Performance/Price ratio

Cons: seen the "Pro" there are no "cons"

Opinion: I use it with great satisfaction on both D800 and 1V3 (with F-Mount) and on both always behaves very well! On the D800 in most cases even better than the AF-S 35-F/1.8G that was sometimes lent to me. The AF is good, it's not lightning and it's driven by the engine machine. On 1V3 of course only MF, it becomes a nice 94.5mm that can also be exploited for macros to the limit with PK11A and PK13, and in the right light conditions, it is capable of Macro of good quality and rendered especially in the range 100>200 ISO and F/2.8>8. On the D800 I personally recommend using it at F/2.8>3.5 while at F/8 it is perfect, especially for a better rendering of colors/lights to "edge" as well as for almost-zero vignette. Distortion bearable as well as it happens also AF-S 35F/1.8G, as well as for the vignette that from F/2.8 onwards I think in PP it is quickly corrected. On D800 up to 800 ISO is very good and between 100 and 300 ISO is perfect! It quite supports the sensor of the D800. Adorable and "credible" Bokeh. With 10/15 Euros you will have a lampshade. I think I have summed it all up already in the Pros/Cons and I add that (I don't say that!) to really and sensibly better you have to spend almost three times what this AF-D costs. Finally because of his I will no longer sell the 1V3 on which he does really nice things, and on the D800 he behaves much better than 35 other very expensive that when tried did not convince me of the cost-performance ratio! I'll take other AF-D because it convinced me that maybe my taste appreciates the "retro" but perhaps more realistic rendering.

nikon1_v3Nikon 1 V3

Pros: easy, fast, performance

Cons: cost that goes far beyond the performance that he can!

Opinion: I use it exclusively with F-Mount and FX lenses and I'm 100% satisfied with it. With the 50mm-F/1.8G it is capable of Glamour cover photos and with the 28-300mm-F/3.5-5.6G ED VR can take pictures on an F1 or MotoGP track. The AF of the 1V3 with the 50-1.8G in any light condition is as fast as the human eye and is ultrafast with the 28-300-F/3.5-5.6 as long as there is a "minimum of light". Optional grip is not recommended because in the "frequent" battery change it requires to be removed/re-installed as well as giving the feeling of being a place-fit

nikon_28-300vrNikon AF-S 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED VR

Pros: Versatile and "sincere"

Cons: no one taken into account is a "all-rounder"

Opinion: I use it on D800 which has a very "bad" sensor with possibly incompetent targets. That said the 28-300mm does not excel in sharpness, does not excel in aberration, does not excel in distortion and vignette, and is not even Flash Gordon in the AF with subject that moves, but...................... it's always good! This is the value of this zoom, it never slips down and always manages to make you take a good photo or in the worst case lets you correct in post-production the problems. A little advice; from 200mm to 300mm always look for the F/8>F/11 and it will never betray you, and when possible turn off the VR so that it is more "faithful"! In summary with him I take 50/60% of all my photos with D800 and I enjoy instigate it on the 1V3 turning it into a 75.6mm-810mm capable of sports-action photos and capable of focusing at 30.5cm with ambient light! It would be nice if it were an F/2.8-4.5 but............. I think it would cost more than twice as much.............

nikon_50_f1-8gNikon AF-S 50mm f/1.8 G

Pros: Colors, AF Speed, Image Quality, Performance/Price Ratio

Cons: given the cost, I honestly don't blame it

Opinion: I say that it already seems to me too much, but I always love to take pictures. This lens on my D800 is often better than the 50-F/1.4G I had before and that I sold precisely because of the F/1.8G after it was loaned to me for a week and that I bought for a month. What I can say in all sincerity is that up to F/4 surpasses in all the brother F/1.4G (which costs twice as much) being better; aberration, vignette, contrast, much less "soft" definition, and higher AF speed. Also on the other my Nikon, a 1V3 equipped with F-Mount, performs better even though the differences are less marked, and has been preferred in terms of AF speed and brightness to F/1.8. It remains much higher on the D800. By the way, in poor light, the acquisition of the AF is much faster than the 58-F/1.4G of which I am a happy owner. That said, at least on D800 is the 50 that I would recommend, while remaining the opinion of a "poor" of the photo that however does not like to work heavily post-production and therefore I like when a lens grants me zero or bland tweaks. Finally, mounted on the D800E of a friend of mine who owns a 50-F/1.4G confirmed how much with my if not even further improvement gap (aberration). Probably on FX sensors with so many megapixels the most expensive F1.4G fails to perform. Very "hot" colors on D800 and even more on 1V3. AF quick. On D800 gives the best in LiveView
