canon_rf24-105_f4usmCanon RF 24-105 mm f/4 L IS USM

Pros: Very versatile focal range, fixed f4 excellent stabilization, compactness.

Cons: The price, perhaps. Nothing else relevant.

Opinion: Having had the EF 24-105 L IS first series for many years and having landed on the planet ML fullframe, it was a fairly obvious choice for me. It is heavy but robust, excellent sharpness even at the edge of the frame, for this reason, being familiar with L series lenses it is quite difficult to settle for less. Closing the aperture and having a very good PDC thanks to the very wide ISO sensitivities of recent R bodies, is a pleasure. On my sample, I found the "lock" a bit hard, but I don't know if it is intentional or not, we will talk about it again in a thousand shots. A worthy successor to its predecessors. It is difficult to be disappointed. Rating: excellent.

canon_eos_r8Canon EOS R8

Pros: Compact, good level of completeness of functionality, versatility and customization. Excellent ISO range, appreciable sensor with the right lens.

Cons: Extremely energy-intensive and picky in the cable - power supply combination for USB charging. Price (applies to all ML in my opinion) exaggerated.

Opinion: Was there a need, Canon, to make another attack? In my humble opinion: no. Very disappointed by the autonomy: 300 shots and possibly without using the display, liveview or pretending to transfer the shots via bluetooth. I had to use it in airplane mode to finish the day. I was used, with the same battery, on the 77D, to take about 400 shots in each mode, even sometimes using the built-in flash and then still having the opportunity to transfer photos wirelessly. Apart from that (which is by no means secondary) and apart from the fact that I found it quite difficult to understand the point of maximum polarization of the light both via display and viewfinder... good but not very good. The biggest advantage is owning a fullframe ML without having to sell a kidney. I still don't understand this mania of changing position to levers, switches and buttons but you get used to it, in the end it is not a defect but a feature.

canon_77dCanon 77D

Pros: Compact size, performance/price ratio.

Cons: Little known, a few years of production = only one firmware update.

Opinion: I state that I have never made great use of it video, coming from the EOS 600D, the jump was sensitive: Digic more recent, wi-fi, better white balance even in automatic, decent quality hold at high iso, expandable up to 12800 (however not recommended). Recently overhauled, I have never been able to find any relevant defects, except for the one mentioned. Born at the turn of the era of the launch of mirrorless cameras and therefore penalized from the start in terms of diffusion and success, however it is a good reflex body of a level not exactly entry-level. He accompanied me for many shots and I don't think (now that I have a fleet of lenses that I consider complete) at the time of early retirement. I believe that today it can still be found at an excellent price. I read the reviews of the 90D and they made me desist from the temptation to change even remaining in the field of reflexes, of course, the next one will be an R... but not in the short term.

canon_50_f1-4Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM

Pros: Weight, portability, max.

Cons: Dated, unstabilized project.

Opinion: Recently taken, used, maybe just for an up-grade compared to the Yongnuo 50mm f. 1.8 I had and actually also exploited relatively. I expected something more indoors and with very little light, but then the real limit becomes the absence of IS (which is addictive, there is little to do). The seller warned me that inside the lenses there were traces of fungus, evidently, the specimen was not recently purchased, however I cannot perceive any effect on the shots, I make use of the right to update this review once a substantial number of shots have been taken in multiple situations of light, exposure and apertures. Would recommend? Yes, if the intention is not to abandon the EOS + EF system soon, otherwise it makes no sense.

canon_70-300lCanon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 L IS USM

Pros: Overall quality, travel, footprint and weight, filter diameter.

Cons: Nothing of note.

Opinion: Got used a few weeks ago, brought with me for some field trials. I decided because I wanted to go beyond the excellent Tamron 35-150 I have. I must say that my personal opinion is quite in agreement with what has already been written previously. Excellent stabilization that gives sharp shots even with relatively long times and handheld. I dedicated a gallery to him. It still falls into the category of "portable" zooms without having to bother with a dedicated photo bag. Paired with my 16-35 L IS, you can do anything while staying in a non-demanding overall weight. To date, finding it at a good price considering the spread of RF optics, is not so difficult. Recommended if you have good reasons to hang on to the EF series. I have 5 of them, good reasons and for now... I'm fine with that.

tokina_11-16_f2-8cfTokina ATX-I 11-16mm f/2.8 CF Plus

Pros: Compactness, 77mm filters, distortion and general yield more than appreciable for the price category and focal range.

Cons: Impractical AF/MF switch. Not recommended against the light, internal reflections sometimes not negligible, especially at f. 2.8.

Opinion: To complete the amazing EF 16-35 L f. 4 IS USM with the same filter diameter, this ultra-wide-angle zoom built for APS-C could no longer be missing. Coming from the discreet EF-S 10-22 now no longer in production, I'm appreciating the greater brightness in exchange for a few grams of extra weight, however very portable of this Tokina. The distortion, taking pictures of a railing (in axis) from a ridiculous distance, ie less than a meter and a half, even at the edge of the frame is definitely acceptable and manageable. Excellent advantage is the fact of being able to mount 77mm filters not necessarily slim profile. First impressions are good. The flare in the car is not too contained but it is sufficient to avoid backlight pushed. In my humble opinion, an excellent Q / P ratio to complement my 16-35 as long as you do not expect a yield, detail and precision of the L series. Unlike others, I find that cartoons a bit 'but I repeat, I find myself comparing it with the L series. The decision to take it, was subordinated to postponing the transition to mirrorless which at the moment would mean selling good stuff little to spend, wanting to cover the same focal ranges, at least 5 times as much. If one shares everything I have tried to describe/consider, it becomes highly recommended.

tamron_35-150vcTamron 35-150mm f/2.8-4 Di VC OSD

Pros: Unique and bright focal range

Cons: No longer in production

Opinion: I had been observing it for a long time, then in the end I decided. It convinced me. A great travel companion, not overly bulky and with a range that both Nikon and Canon lack. Also chosen because with a 77 mm filter ring I was not forced to buy another polarizer. To the hood supplied, I prefer a universal adjustable silicone, I find it much more practical. As long as you can find it new, I highly recommend it.

canon_16-35_f4isCanon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM

Pros: Stabilizer, construction, optics, zero vignetting, filters 77 mm,

Cons: Nobody. Only a 35-150 or more of Canon's L-series is missing to complete it.

Opinion: What can I say... I can't part with it. Priceless and in many ways irreplaceable. On APS-C also excellent for portrait. I came from the excellent 24-105 L f 4 IS first series and, noticing that I used the latter at opposite ends of the zoom, I thought of widening the field around 24 mm, sometimes insufficient (APS-C). The stabilizer may seem superfluous but it is not: the proof is in the new corresponding RFs.

yongnuo_50_f1-8iiYongnuo YN 50mm f/1.8 II

Pros: Cheap, light.

Cons: Construction, materials, AF with low light.

Opinion: Taken by a couple of weeks. Why? To see if I really need this fixed focal, which on APS-C becomes 80mm. I pulled his neck and the result is that-inextricably linked to the relationship Q/P-honestly does its job. With little light, the AF has uncertainties... As far as I could see, aberrations, distortions and vignetting are mild and acceptable. It is neither stabilized nor has ultrasonic motor, the 58mm filter ring is of plastic and easily ruined. But for 70 euros? It has no competitors. If it cost 200 euros the vote would be 4.5. Taking it with me is the least I can do, given the bulk and weight. At times it's even sorprendende and fun.
