![]() | Nikon AF-S 400mm f/2.8E FL ED VR Pros: Blurry, colors, detail, AF Cons: Cluttered and taken, I don't see any others. Opinion: Taken used here on juza at a "good" price. Personally I come from the 500 PF, so in terms of dimensions and weights the difference is considerable. Freehand use is manageable, not for long periods of course. Combined with the Z9 the detail that is returned by the images is excellent, especially up to medium distances. On the long it loses a hair. The AF is fast both smooth and paired with CT (TC 1.7II in my case). With CT the images are a little softer. The blurry is gorgeous. Unfortunately the 400 Z is out of all budget otherwise I would have taken that. sent on October 08, 2022 |
![]() | Nikon Z6 II Pros: The silks of the Z6, the file in general (iso, GD, colors) Cons: The only con for me remains essentially the AF in the various AUTO and tracking modes Opinion: I'm not going to repeat what was already written for the Z6. I will confine myself to describeing the updates to date. The most obvious updates are essentially about eye tracking, although, as far as I'm concerned, with my 24-70 Z, the eye isn't detected until I'm 40 cm from my face.. with other lenses (portrait) I don't know. So I don't see the same improvement seen in the various videos on the net, where the eye is detected from quite a distance. I reserve the right to try it with other lenses. An improvement in tracking with the "yellow square" had been declared, but as far as I am concerned it has not reached, as the focus on the subject is lost almost immediately (as a pre-update). Only the speed at which the square moves has improved. For the rest I did not notice any major improvements compared to the "smooth" Z6. Yes, there's something... I in the action scenes, in nature, I feel quite well with the AUTO area AF, the shots are taken home (in the gallery I have several facts in that mode), but objectively the gap with the competition, in some areas there is. We hope for further improvements. sent on June 06, 2021 |
![]() | Nikon Z6 Pros: File, Iso, dynamic range, colors, handle, menu, FTZ Cons: AF/AFC with fast-moving subjects Opinion: I bought the Z6 now in October 2019, so after a few months, and various fw updates, I think I can give an opinion. I leave immediately with the above con. For me that I do mainly naturalistic, with the AF and moving subjects we are not yet up to sony (I also use sony), this must be admitted. Improvements have been made but the tracking still does not work optimally (I reserve to try the FW 3.00 well). Then for goodness' sake, the shot with a good dose of handle, and the right settings, you take it home, but the percentages of out-of-focus remain quite high. With semi-static subjects and landscape photography, however, the problems do not exist. I find really good high iso files with very low noise and controllable in PP, and a fantastic GD! A mention I want to make to the FTZ with which I do not experience any kind of sharpness leaks or slowdowns of focus with F mount optics. My canvases work egregiously. Nothing to report regarding the intuitiveness of the classic nikon menu. Handle and body that I find beautiful. The eye-focus, for the use I make of it, works well. A parenthesis on Z optics that I still refuse to buy because of the prices too high. Ultimately I find the Z6 a balanced and excellently crafted ML and with still (hopefully) possible improvements via FW. An ML that I highly recommend to try and buy. Personally before the purchase of Z optics I would like nikon to pull out a ML pro, then yes I will probably make the full jump to the new system. At the moment I keep my D500 for birdlife as a second body. Update on use with Fw 3.00: From the tests carried out, unfortunately, with subjects moving fast/erratic, we are not there yet. tracking fails to keep up with the subject. otherwise I did not notice any notable improvements in the use of the AF. The only positive note of the update, in my opinion, is the ability to assign tracking to the dedicated button. sent on February 26, 2020 |
![]() | Nikon D4s Pros: Key arrangement, AF, burst, buffer, operational speed, File Cons: nobody, not even the weight Opinion: I start by saying that 4S I used for a year and a half and I gave it away to move to ML. And I'll be honest. coming from a D750 I expected more on the AF side. In any case the 4S is a war machine, where the keys are arranged perfectly and the body is fantastic! Convenient keys that light up. Af side... then, as mentioned above, I found that the AF is virtually identical to the D750. The photos (naturalistic/sports) that I used to do with 4S, with no difference in results. In any case, the AF is always precise and lightning fast, especially when working with the right lenses. I didn't use 3D much, but that little worked pretty well. It must be said that when the scene/subject is little contrasted and the light goes down, even the 4S can make a thimper! Also doing landscape and architecture I found the RAW file really great in dynamic and very workable range, even at high iso. The noise is not true that it is non-existent, you can see it even at iso 1600, but the grain is so fine that it does not create any problems. The noise of chroma comes out at very high iso. Another thing to keep in mind, which I have never read in other reviews, is that those who, like me, also use it for landscapes and long exposures, have to deal with numerous hot pixels, even at relatively low iso and with exposures from one minute up. In each case it is a once-in-a-lifetime machine! sent on September 23, 2019 |
![]() | Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN C Pros: Sharpness, blurred and good AF Cons: Flares flare flare at throttle and distortion Opinion: Purchased for my a6300 (second body travel), I must admit not to be fully satisfied. In any case the merits are many, and for the price it has is a great deal! The sharpness is really good, even clicking TA is a blade. You also have fun with some portraino because the blurred that returns is very pleasant. Though... I must say that in night cityscape is unusable because of the flare that jump out in abundance. Obviously missing the various treatments on the lenses.. And for the price of the lens there may even be that there are. In any case for me, that I use on the road and often even at night, the flare is a nice problem. Finally, the wide angle distortion I find really strong, compared to other similar lenses. sent on March 21, 2019 |
![]() | Nikon AF-S 500mm f/5.6 E PF ED VR Pros: Handling/Weight, AF, Stabilizer, Blurred, Sharpness Cons: The only flaw I found at this lens is the excessive noise of the stabilizer and the Price Opinion: That was the lens I was waiting for! I gave away the still great Sigma Sport, but this lens, combined with the D4S, is really balanced to the maximum, you forget about the easel in the photo hunt. As mentioned in the pros, the speed of the AF is really very good, which improves using the limiter. The stabilizer allows you to descend with the times to remarkable values (photographed a sunset at 1/80 freehand without support). Crisptoness to TA great. The only defects, as mentioned, are the price, which I still consider excessive (in my opinion the correct price could be around 3k) and the noise of the stabilizer, in fact in the sessions in the shed I keep it off because it annoys me! In any case I consider myself really satisfied with the purchase. Nikon made a really good product sent on October 13, 2018 |
