samyang_af45_f1-8feSamyang AF 45mm f/1.8 FE

Pros: Small, light, economical... but quality

Cons: Nothing considering the cost

Opinion: I would like to spend a few words on the little Samyang house that I've been using for a few months with satisfaction on A7 III. As always I state that my impressions are those of a Sunday amateur photographer, without any artistic or technical ambitions. I come from Nikon (D750) where for a couple of years my favorite lens was the Tamron 45mm. Lens of excellent quality even if with autofocus a bit 'slow but above all focal length that I love because I can do everything. And in fact it was practically glued to the machine. Focal length that I went to look for immediately when I decided to change kit and I bet without fail on the Samyang for its dimensional characteristics. What can I say, after a few shots did not make me regret the old Tamron indeed, in some respects I prefer it such as the blurred that I like more but also the heat (the Tamron was colder). The sharpness is more than enough for my needs, even at full aperture. The autofocus works very well, very quickly and even with eye tracking it is very accurate and effective. The only negative notes, if you want to find them, are the obviously plasticous construction (but still solid) and the very light hood. But at this price it is really impossible to ask for more, indeed they also provide you with a very useful semi-rigid case. The only suggestion should they make a version "mk II" (let's hope not because I could easily give in to temptation) is to add a customizable button that generally turns out to be very useful. For the rest nothing else to say. It costs very little, fits in your pocket and weighs nothing and gives rows for my excellent tastes. Promoted with flying colors. P.s. I was also tempted by the big brother 75mm of the same series "tiny but absolute" but in the end I opted for the Sony 85mm f1.8 but curiosity remains.

nikon_16-35vrNikon AF-S 16-35mm f/4 G ED VR

Pros: Focal range, versatility, colors, 77 filters

Cons: Cluttered?

Opinion: I would also like to contribute by exposing my opinions on this fairly denigrated lens that I have owned for over two years now, chosen after a long diatribe with his brother 17-35 f2.8. I needed a grandndolo not pushed, with a good focal excursion to be able to use it even in the street, of satisfactory quality and that was not a boulder. I must say that the 16-35 satisfied me in full in everything, also considering the possibility of mounting 77 screw filters (I use CPL a lot) and the stabilization that is an added value. I don't take much interest in charts, MTFs or brick wall photos, my impressions are purely like a Sunday amateur photographer. It is true that at 16mm it has more or less correctable distortion and vignetting (this easily correctable), but the general yield is more than satisfactory for my needs. I also didn't find it as disastrous at 35mm as others say. The only note I can make is related to the size: not so much the weight that is almost acceptable, but its length that for my taste is excessive and tends to unbalance the body (D750) during walking. In hindsight perhaps today I would evaluate the tamron 17-35 but only for a speech of weights / dimensions. I am finding myself very well so that from an initial sporadic use for specific situations, it has become one of the main objectives that I almost always carry with me.

nikon_24-120vr_f4Nikon AF-S 24-120mm f/4 G ED VR

Pros: True all-rounder, value for money (used), decent performance, good stabilization

Cons: Nothing really relevant given the current price

Opinion: An optical very often denigrated but in my opinion it does its duty when used for the purpose for which it was designed, that is, a handyman that goes from wide angle to mid-range. I'm a Sunday photo amateur, but I still have good eyes. I've often used it with D750 on the go and it has never disappointed me: af valid, effective stabilization and very versatile focal excursion, sharpness more than enough for any purpose. If you are interested in absolute performance in terms of MTF etc. it's not the optics for you, but if you don't ask you to do what you can't do, that is, behaving like a fixed or a triple-cost optics, it will definitely make you take home good shots. I don't talk about vignette and distortion, I'm there, but they work out quickly with a couple of clicks. Maybe it could show the side on very dense sensors type D810 or D850, but on the 24mps of the D750 it goes well. For the moment it is irreplaceable for me, when I can not carry other lenses with me I use only this. I don't feel the need to pass 24-70 f2.8, the 24-120 you choose it for versatility. If I need quality or fun I use the fixtures. Recommended.

nikon_105_f1-8aisNikon 105mm f/1.8 Ai-S

Pros: Wonderful rendering, excellent sharpness from 2.8 onwards, made wonderful I have already said?

Cons: Weight, a little soft at f1.8/2 for modern canons

Opinion: I add my impressions of use because I see that here on the forum the presence of this lens is a bit like a unicorn. I bought this lens a bit of a moment ago for a bit of a misfit, I wanted to try to dave with a manual lens and I was looking for a portrait optics. Initially I was oriented on the infamous little brother f2.5 but a once-in-a-lifetime offer took this little gem into my hands. I invested another fifty to get it cleaned up from the internal dust and now it can express its full potential. I say that I speak as a Sunday amateur and not as a pro, said this optics give truly noteworthy results. Manual fire is absolutely not a problem (you choose it for this too), the construction and quality are impeccable, although I found the focus ring a hard thread, perhaps due to the age (40 years) but also the rotating masses not indifferent. The removable lampshade then I really like it. It is an optics designed for portraiture and in that excels, a little soft (but usable given the main purpose) to f1.8 and f2 considering the modern canons, has the remains typical of vintage Nikon optics with wide opening. From f2.8 it becomes very good, excellent from f4. I use it on the D750 and I feel great, only defect compared to the little brother are much larger size and weight such force me to leave it at home sometimes since I also have the almost-pocket 85mm 1.8 G. But when you attach it to the bayonet... Wonderful colors especially because really natural, beautiful bokeh despite the unrounded slats (9) and very clean rows. Try it you won't regret it! Now I've got the monkey for the 180th of the same series, but that's another story...
