![]() | Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max Pros: Probably the best camera for macro and portraits. Video potential. Cons: 5x camera unrealistic. Handling of higher resolution formats complex. Opinion: Released in 2023, it is still a reference for macro and portrait quality, among other things with automatic recognition based on subject and focal distance. The dedicated camera with 5x zoom is more of a whim than really usable in everyday life, because it loses a lot of definition and needs a lot of light. The video potential is enormous but to make the most of resolution and frame rate you need an external memory device. Beyond all this (which is hardware), I would like to see a new software for camera management implemented, which has remained unchanged over the years. The 16 Pro adds a more complete management of audio in movies and I find it interesting. We will see if the implementation of AI in April 2025 will bring with it some news. Overall score: 8 (constant quality and reliability, but also a price that has never fallen below 1,100 euros!). sent on March 03, 2025 |
![]() | Canon EOS R6 Mark II Pros: Stabilization, high iso, versatility Cons: Little space between the right camera back and the lens, amateur camera Opinion: Let's start with the price, just over 2,000 euros two years after its launch define the best price/quality ratio in the category, although with the same amount 8 years ago you bought the 5d mark III, which was a semi-pro machine in all respects. This is to give an idea of what is the only real flaw of this camera, namely the fact that it is a mirrorless for 'starters' and for the family, not for a photographer, if not as a second / third camera. For the rest, it is great from all points of view and has been made much 'easier' than the previous R6, both in the autofocus setting and in the management of all the controls. The 24 Mpx sensor is less clean than the previous 20 Mpx in low light, but returns generally better photos. Additional info in the viewfinder/display is convenient, such as the indication of the focal length you are using if I mount a zoom; toy scenes and fish-eye type preset filters, as well as a kind of intro menu that is activated when the PASM ring is turned (the Nikon D3100 had it a few years ago). The right back of the camera (the grip) is too close to the lens, which scratches with your fingernails every time you hold the camera. Amateur rating: 9.5, pro rating: 7.5. sent on December 26, 2024 |
![]() | Canon RF 24-105 mm f/4 L IS USM Pros: Versatility, lightness, tropicalization Cons: Decent optical quality, 24mm distortion Opinion: Universal optics, sufficient to cover almost all uses. Lightweight and tropicalized, with the most used focal ranges. Vote 10 for versatility. Only decent optical quality, especially for general sharpness and excessive distortion at 24mm. Rated 7 for image quality. Maturity price reached now, between 1,200 and 1,300 euros. Overall score: 8.5. sent on December 26, 2024 |
![]() | Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM Pros: Lightness, versatility Cons: Optical quality at the edge, external autofocus movement Opinion: Compared to the 'prime' zooms of the RF series, it only adds the advantage of a fixed lens with good brightness, given that all these lenses (16, 24, 35, 50, 85) are designed according to sw correction (aberrations and distortion) in the machine and in post production programs (Lightroom etc.). In summary, they produce good photos, with evident loss of detail at the edges of the wide openings and accomplish the task of preserving Canon's lightweight and compact mirrorless system. For quality photos, you need the L series, which have a much higher price and weight. The more I use this system, the more I feel the need for some good lenses between the basic and the top level! sent on November 29, 2022 |
![]() | Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM Pros: Price in kit, lightness Cons: Distorted colors, brightness (very low) from super zoom Opinion: A decidedly mediocre lens, which makes sense only if purchased in kit and then paid just over 300 euros because it is very light to carry with you. The distorted colors and the images totally devoid of three-dimensionality do not do justice to the goodness of the R series cameras. Better, at this point, to provide the kit with a nice fifty all-rounder, which is exploited very well in the videos. sent on October 13, 2022 |
![]() | Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Pros: Sharpness, color, autofocus Cons: Weight, cost of RF lenses (all) Opinion: !!! Update after a few (6) months of use. A lens with a list price of 3,349.99 is worth today (RCE quote) 1,950.00 euros. Unfortunately, the figures speak for themselves and all considerations on the quality of this object should be re-evaluated in the light of its cost and excessive devaluation !!! A lens that gave me again the smile and the pleasure of taking beautiful photos. The quality of Canon's L-series was a step beyond standard EFs and is now probably two steps ahead of basic RFs. Wonderful colors, optical quality, shutter speed thanks to infallible autofocus. It weighs a lot, nullifying the weight advantage of an ML compared to a SLR. It costs too much, like all RF mount lenses; let's hope at least they don't also have the big devaluation that the EF L-series had on the second-hand market. sent on October 13, 2022 |
![]() | Canon EOS R6 Pros: Autofocus and overall performance Cons: Low resolution display Opinion: It took me a year to buy it or rather to decide to do it and I clarify it immediately: not because it is not an exceptional camera, but because I wondered and continue to wonder about what phase in my photographic evolution I am going through. I think the best definition of the R6 was given by Canon itself: a content creation machine. If I analyze 90% of my photographic activity of the last decade, that is, portraits set and street, well, then not only did my 5D Mark III continue to go wonderfully well but it would also go a Nikon Z5 to say the first that comes to mind with a justified and justifiable price. However, I believe that we could be in a new phase of Photography, understanding it as increasingly integrated between images and videos and that makes sport, music and social events more and more 'visual'; In this sense and in the desire to learn how to create 'videophotographic' content I bring back my choice of address. I will not dwell on strengths and weaknesses because they are already perfectly identified by those who preceded me in the reviews, but I would like to leave you some numbers of the first use of the R6 as soon as it is removed from the box. Indoor shooting in the room of a B & B, the usual 15 square meters scarce, gray afternoon, a couple of equally dark windows, a model and a couple of outfits to be distributed between bed and entrance, portable LED and zoom kit, an hour and a quarter total from the first to the last shot. Result. About 500 shots, of which 40 blurred or out of focus and 20 selected final shots processed and stored as a summary of the shooting. Never an uncertainty of the autofocus, battery that consumes the right, great handling of the camera body, menus and commands centered and never superfluous. The photos to the PC finally?! Different from those I was used to with SLRs, less round and full, albeit with pleasant colors and excellent sharpness; But I look at the shooting data and I discover that I took some at 5000 ISO and 1/60 handheld perfectly in focus and without shake! Then I remembered an episode a few years ago in Austria, when in very similar circumstances I regretted because many photos had an annoying grain to be eliminated in post production and many were affected by shake. That unwelcome limit I had touched was only 1250 iso. Welcome future! sent on January 31, 2022 |
![]() | Nikon Z fc Pros: Vintage image, photo quality, versatility Cons: Right hand ergonomics Opinion: I bought it for the most typical of lightning strikes, after reading the review on DPReview and wanting to replace my Fuji XT2. I will use the comparison with the latter to analyze the Z fc. The main source of dissatisfaction with Fuji - which builds wonderfully beautiful objects with the quality of haute horlogerie - is its commercial policy, so my XT2 purchased in December 2018 is already out of the market at the beginning of 2021, replaced by XT3 and XT4 and flanked by I do not know how many models of which a normal user would not be able to distinguish the differences. I think this is simply unacceptable. From an exquisitely technical point of view, where the Z fc surpasses the XT2 is the exposure meter reading, which with Nikon's D-Lightning allows you to wonderfully manage high lights and shadows and where on XT2 it is practically impossible to take clean photos in classic city excursions between deep shadows and very strong lights. Nevertheless, despite the lower resolution sensor, the Z fc produces much sharper photos than the XT2, albeit using basic optics and I invite you to compare some examples among my photos. The Z fc allows you to do everything that an enthusiast wants to experience, including videos, which have full functions and good quality, considering the fact that even the battery allows you to do a whole day around, where with XT2 you needed at least two. The truly vintage aesthetic has the contraindication that the ergonomics of the right hand is actually sacrificed and even a not big hand unintentionally crushes the front button and rotates the rear bezel. I bought, however, the additional Smallrig handle that transformed it and now it is even comfortable! Summary: with just over 1500 euros I bought an aps-c and two zooms (16-50 and 50-250) to always carry with me, so beautiful that everyone looks at it, which takes very full and clean photos and has the plus of video functions. sent on September 28, 2021 |
