nikon_55micro_aisNikon 55mm f/2.8 Micro AI-s

Pros: quality of construction.

Cons: Half Macro Ratio

Opinion: A great lens. Light, precise and sharp. Like its predecessor 55mm f/3.5 AI, it only lacks the 1:2 reproduction ratio which requires the use of an additional ring to have a 1:1 reproduction. Both are also great from the widest aperture for photographing human subjects. For macro, they're great at f8 without the ring. Above f/8, it takes more effort to create a background with soft blur.

olympus_em5_iiOlympus OM-D E-M5 II

Pros: Aesthetics, Focus bracketing and stacking, weight and bulk.

Cons: Battery, build quality.

Opinion: Socket only to try focus stacking in machina and focus bracketing. Truly brilliant for these functions that many other houses did not want to put. Although Olympus promotes it as "weather sealed", the metal it is made of is too fragile. A small fall and the bass broke which then puts me in difficulty for the use of the micrometric slide indispensable in my case. So, be very careful of shocks. It weighs little and also asks for little space. This makes up for it when you know you always have to carry some extra battery. Other added values that I find: the simplicity of the menus (you get used to it quickly) and the quality of the files on which you work easily (inherent since I had very dark nights with fuji files). Generally, the question of the maturity of a mature system, I see it through the availability of quality optics but also the battery life. Olympus rightly has an excellent macro lens (zuiko 60mm, taken with the machine), but their machines also have a serious battery problem and on that unfortunately I am happy with the weight of the SLR that I almost always carry together with the EM5II.

nikon_85_f1-4dNikon AF 85mm f/1.4 D

Pros: Optical quality, material quality

Cons: GEARbox AF - MF

Opinion: Regardless of the price, which I can't complain about having had a second-hand voucher, it's a lens with its own character. Outside of the Macro, I care little about sharpness so I find the lens very suitable for the portrait precisely because it is not a genre in which I seek sharpness. Always in the portraits, the blurring here is quite pleasant, perhaps a hair more "nervous" than G optics but I prefer to have optics with the ring of diaphragms ; for now I used it on the d810 and the results are ok, yet I have to see on film how it comes. The lampshade does not find it particularly cumbersome, it is a METAL PRO for all the shocks it takes when you do little attention. The only sin is the automatic fire/manual fire change ring even at which you get used to and has no such important incidence.

voigtlander_40_f2Voigtlander SL-II Ultron 40mm f/2.0

Pros: Construction, optical quality.

Cons: Flare in some conditions

Opinion: Remarkable optical quality that makes the lens can be safely used at full opening. It is built very well: compact, very light and a smooth manual focus ring. Another practical aspect, is an "AI-P" lens for the Nikon version, so even if the focus is manual, it allows you to change the opening from the machine directly. The connection with the machine allows the use in all shooting modes, whether Automatic or Semi Automatic or all Manual. Exposure automations via the AI-P chip make it easier to use even with entry-level machines. In one particular case it sins a little, with a little flare that is only present if you have the sun in front. Voigtlander did not project a more efficient lampshade even with the further version of the lens and I did not have time to look if some other solution exists but the problem of flare for me is a minor thing. I didn't see any particular impact.

zeiss_100macroZeiss ZE/ZF.2 Makro-Planar T* 100mm f/2

Pros: Construction quality, focus dial accuracy, optical quality

Cons: 1:2 ratio

Opinion: Purchased for fun, so as not to leave alone its short version in my possession (the Makro-Planar 50 1.4). For the little use I make of it, I still like it very much. If you photograph flowers and butterflies, you'll be happy even if it has a limit of just 1:2. In use it is practical to have a focus ring that makes almost a complete turn, helps to have the most precise fire possible. I didn't use it in hostile areas (rain, mud) and I wouldn't do it for that coast. It should not be a lens to use as the first option in a macro set, it comes after all the other goals, after the bellows, after the sleds and after numerous macro accessories. Do we want to talk about the Lin Zeiss coating? It seems magic, the lens never takes the "fog", while with other goals you have to do a bit with the fog and wait n little bit for them to fix (?).

zeiss_50macroZeiss ZE/ZF.2 Makro-Planar T* 50mm f/2

Pros: Construction quality, glass quality.

Cons: Price a bit high for a 1:2 ratio goal.

Opinion: Really great in everything if we only see things like robustness and optical quality. Too bad it's only a ratio of 1:2, but even there is still a pretty impressive detail. It particularly likes the almost 360-degree fire ring that allows you to adjust the focus as precisely as possible and makes its use for macros rightly very comfortable. With very small subjects, I add an extension ring for a greater macro ratio. It has its own weight because it is built with so much metal, but this is forgotten immediately after seeing how robust and precise is the lens (-:

nikon_d610Nikon D610

Pros: lightweight and well-built; dynamic range.

Cons: -arrangement of the buttons on the left; -arrangement AF point

Opinion: A Nikon is forever. It was my thought at first taken in hand the D610 because the weight made me feel good. We saw a car that I could even bring it anywhere without worry of weight and in fact was this: me I can take anywhere with a view without thinking. I use it for more macro than anything else and I'm quite satisfied thanks to the fact that I can put on objectives not Nikon's home that are good company. But, changing general, the enthusiasm of lightness, color and compatible optical park is not enough: the D610 has a serious problem with its focus points all concentrated at the center. In macro, this has very little but in many other cases of use, the arrangement of the AF points can be problematica.rnDopo the D610, I think because for now it is a machine of which I'm quite happy for my use. Like all mid-range and high Nikon cameras, the D610 can be used with Nikon lenses of another time (AI, AI-s) and not only optical AF. This retro-cOMPATIBILITY is a serious subject.

nikon_35_f2dNikon AF 35mm f/2 D

Pros: -a ratio unbeatable quality / price; rn-fast focusing, even in the manual dial is liscissima; rn-light, easy to carry.

Cons: a hard lens hood to find (if you really must find a counter).

Opinion: Optics bought at the suggestion of a friend. It is ideal if you are tight-a with a 50mm, which was my case. On many occasions, I approach a bit 'too much too often I was pushed into the scene and with the difficulty 35mmf2D no longer appears. It is much more natural set a picture / a scena.rnA yield level, maybe goes to tastes and personally no problem. If I were to go out with a single optic to take to a street event, it would be this.
