![]() | Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 12mm f/1.4 ASPH Pros: Metal construction, sharpness even at wide aperture, flare resistance Cons: Absence of stabilization (in the videos you can see that it is slightly less stable than the panaleic 12-60). Opinion: Taken to take wide-angle photos in low-light contexts (cityscapes at dusk, photos in dimly lit interiors), and in that area it proved to be excellent. The thing that positively impressed me is the sharpness and three-dimensionality of the image even at wide apertures. Far better than the Panaleica 12-60 (which at 12mm is f/2.8, and which is a lens that normally satisfies me a lot) in difficult lighting conditions. Excellent construction, size and weight not problematic for me. The lack of stabilization is a small flaw that is only visible when compared to stabilized zooms. As much as I prefer to use zooms, I have to admit that using a fixed like this in difficult contexts guarantees really good results. Highly recommended if you are looking for very high quality bright wide angles (PS I bought it used from the store, I admit that when new at full price maybe I wouldn't have bought it). sent on June 02, 2024 |
![]() | Olympus M.Zuiko ED 40-150mm f/2.8 Pro Pros: Excellent construction, internal zoom, excellent sharpness, very natural colors, manual focus mechanism and very comfortable extendable hood, excellent performance even with TC 1.4 Cons: Lack of stabilization that does not allow to greatly lower the times on Panasonic cameras, tripod foot just too short for optimal swing Opinion: Excellent lens for construction and image quality, with internal zoom mechanism that makes its use a little more discreet (as far as possible, given weight and size not very contained, but perfectly in line with the characteristics of the lens). I took it to have a luminous canvas in contexts of birdlife, and it does its job perfectly, both smooth and combined with TC 1.4, with which I often use it in cases of light not really critical or subjects not very fast. I used it (smooth) also for portraits or as "travel" canvases, and it satisfied me a lot, even if the medium fixed canvases for the portrait have an output that I find more pleasant. For me the biggest flaw is the lack of stabilization, and more than anything else the fact that on Panasonic cameras it is not stabilized like native lenses (to say, the 100-400 panaleica, despite being longer, is stabilized much better). Lens highly recommended if the size and weight do not bother. sent on June 09, 2023 |
![]() | Panasonic Leica DG 12-60mm f/2.8-4.0 ASPH OIS Pros: Excellent construction, compactness, fluidity of the rings, additional keys to improve lens control, fast AF, good macro capabilities, optical defects almost always very well corrected Cons: Distortion quite evident in raw at 12mm, a bit of vignetting more evident in raw at 12mm, maximum brightness that decreases quickly (the maximum aperture is f/3.5 at 25mm, and f/3.9 at 40mm) Opinion: I've owned it for two years, for me it's a great travel lens. The metal construction is great, with fluid rings and additional keys such as the AF/MF switch and stabilizer button. The AF is fast, and the macro capabilities are good despite not being a dedicated lens. The compactness of the lens is great for travel, but it is compensated by the fact that the maximum brightness decreases quickly (the maximum aperture is f/3.5 at 25mm, and f/3.9 at 40mm). The optical defects almost always very well corrected, apart from the fairly obvious distortion in raw at 12mm and a bit of vignetting more evident in RAW at 12mm. Recommended lens for M4/3 users. sent on March 17, 2023 |
![]() | Panasonic Leica 100-400mm f/4.0-6.3 ASPH OIS Pros: Metal construction, tropicalization, very efficient stabilization, compactness compared to equivalent focal lengths, additional keys and rings for better control during shooting and transport, fast AF Cons: Zoom dial a bit 'hard that discourages quick zooms in pursuit and during video, a little' softness at full aperture between 350mm and 400mm Opinion: I have been using this lens for two years for wandering nature photography, used in different contexts and different temperatures throughout Europe with satisfaction. The construction is very good, and the tropicalization is a reassurance; The only weak point in this regard (the biggest for me) is the zoom ring a bit hard, which discourages fast zooms in pursuit and zooms during videos. The presence of the AF / MF selection keys, the distance limiter and the stabilization key, in addition to the dial for locking the lens at a certain focal length, is really a very useful thing. The compactness to be a supertele is incredible. The quality of the lens is excellent up to about 350mm, besides I prefer to normally close at f / 7.1 to improve sharpness. Really very recommended. Finally, I mention that, being a supertele, it takes some time at the beginning before taking the hand. In addition, the maximum aperture and the PdC equivalent to longer focal lengths are an intrinsic characteristic of the lens, so for me they are not a defect of the lens itself (although they can be limiting with some subjects or types of shot). sent on March 16, 2023 |
![]() | Panasonic G9 Pros: Very robust, ergonomics, operating speed, extremely wide viewfinder and with very good resolution even today, many video side features, very customizable AF, dual memory slots, high resolution mode (on tripod), HDMI port, excellent value for money Cons: Weight and bulk that in some context can be limiting, AFC not optimal in very difficult dynamic contexts and in videos with low FPS, really important chromatic noise above 2000 ISO Opinion: Purchased 2 years ago, it was my first interchangeable lens camera. To date, although more than 5 years have passed since its release, in my opinion it is among the best mirrorless on the market for the quality / price ratio (for me it was already in 2021). Used for landscapes, travel photos, lots of nature photography and some portraits, I appreciated it in all these genres. For me the ergonomics are fantastic, even if weight and size in some contexts are not ideal (in climbing and via ferratas I preferred more compact cameras). The sensitivity of the shutter button is also optimized for dynamic photography. Autofocus has improved continuously as firmware has gone through (the improvement with firmware 2.4, for example, has been important), but AFC in some very dynamic contexts and videos is not at the level of many newer mirrorless. Another limitation is that the sensor develops a really important chromatic noise above 2000 ISO. That said, for me it is still highly recommended, unless you have really professional pretensions in birdlife or you do not take adjustments in low light contexts or you do not need very high resolution photos. sent on March 16, 2023 |
![]() | Rollei C6i Carbon Pros: Very favorable price/performance ratio, maximum height, very high maximum capacity, reasonably compact as a travel tripod, ballast hook, monopod possibility Cons: Short center column to buy separately, heavier and bulkier than super-light carbon travel tripods Opinion: It's my first tripod, and I'm happy with it. Also used in windy places (not areas where the bora blows, but still decidedly windy) only rarely I felt the need for ballasting. As maximum load I put you a Panasonic G9 and the 100-400 Panasonic Leica (total about 1.8 kg), and I have never had problems. Dimensions when closed and weight (1.65 kg with the Rollei T2S ball head, included in the price) are not the most compact ever, but it is decidedly more robust than the superlight carbon tripods with a similar cost. Really winning price: found on offer at 145 euros, I had to order apart from the short central column on the Rollei website (15 euros), which for me was essential to do nature photography with greater comfort.
