Più in basso a Nosate, c'è un mulino che prende forma sulla tela del pittore. E' la memoria storica di antiche tradizioni della valle del Ticino, consacrato in mille forme artistiche su ogni tipo di supporto, materiale o virtuale, che sanciscono il corretto rapporto tra uomo e natura. Ma il tempo è avaro, le antiche attività manuali sono considerate solo costosi hobby che non producono "ricchezza" , PIL, secondo una logica prettamente consumistica. Qualcuno va sussurrando che la cultura non sazia l'appetito. Secondo questa stessa teoria non avrebbe senso mantenere in efficienza vecchie bifore, che mais potrebbero competere con la fredda efficienza dei grandi centri commerciali che, di giorno in giorno nascono come i fiori negli stessi prati dove prima erano i crochi e i bucaneve a sbocciare. Ma la grande crisi economica che sta attraversando il pianeta, a giudizio di molti, avrà come extrema ratio un progressivo ritorno all'economia rurale, alla riduzione dei consumi, alla rivalutazione del lavoro al di sopra delle enormi, impalpabili, movimentazioni finanziarie degli ultimi decenni. In una sola parola, ad una maggiore attenzione per l'ambiente dove viviamo e alla qualità della stessa vita.
