fujifilm_gfx100Fujifilm GFX 100

Pros: Notable improvements compared to the GFX50S, very good ergonomics and handling, much more responsive autofocus, battery grip integrated with 2 batteries, excellent dynamic range, churns out excellent ready-to-use Jpg, very quiet shot. A wide range of usable cards, although of course fast and very capacious supports are recommended. I forgot: STABILIZER integrated into the machine body.

Cons: Price, price, price..! .. Huge files, needs very well "equipped" computers, lacks the ability to set medium/small RAW (as on the flagships Canon and Nikon). Synchro X a little low, at least with traditional flashes.

Opinion: I say that I had the camera available for a very limited amount of time, so my judgment can only be very approximate. However, having already had the opportunity to use the GFX 50S, I got to appreciate significant improvements compared to the latter. Starting with the autofocus, here much more reliable, in terms of accuracy and speed. the eye focus tracking, which I had activated during a short session of shooting at a beautiful model, worked very well, erroneous fire only in a very low percentage of photos. Although many people are inclined to think that the increase in resolution is one of the most tangible improvements, I think this parameter is only appreciable in specific situations; the dynamic range available, the speed of the AF, (although lower than that of an F.F:flagship), the handling of the camera, the "responsiveness", are instead appreciable aspects in the field, regardless of the specific use. Moreover, compared to a Nikon D5, or a Canon series 1, you do not feel any concrete difference in weight. The real "problem" of this camera is the purchase price, which, although far more accessible than other ephalated medium-sized solutions, remains absolutely out of reach of many potential buyers; (A substantial amount must also be taken into account for a set of optics in the system. It remains to be seen what the extent of the inevitable depreciation over time will be. Those who buy such a set must necessarily think about the possibility of depreciating the expenditure in a reasonable time, or consider the purchase in "definitive" terms, or at least to be kept for a substantial period of time.

sigma_85_f1-4artSigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art

Pros: Accurate and sturdy construction, very wide focus ring and excellent excursion, sharpness (if calibrated), colours, Bohek, current price.

Cons: Heavy, 86mm filters (expensive and rare), very selective focal plane, challenging autofocus to calibrate,

Opinion: This is a far from technical review... for this there are the "experts" and the professors of the Forum.. After several trials and tests, characterized by moments of euphoria alternating with others of extreme frustration, I came to some considerations. I state that I currently have the version for Nikon, while until a few months ago I had one for Canon (5DMK4), (lens) ceded for unreliability of autofocus. -The lens is very extraordinary, but only if put in optimal conditions to give the best of itself; -It's like a race horse, bizarre, demanding... it must be tamed with a firm pulse and... a lot of patience...-It is not the "easy" goal.. That as soon as the mountains go to the maximum... You have to study it, understand it... and above all you need to find the optimum calibration for a precise focus. I could use another analogy with race cars. There are relatively "easy" cars to drive, with which every good driver would be able to quickly get good lap times.. But others will prove to be much more demanding.. In addition to a more calibrated guide, they require an adequate and meticulous tuning, optimized for that particular circuit, the weather conditions, specific tires, etc. Once they're set up... the others stay behind.. To eat the dust. The "character" of the Sigma 85 Art seems to me something like that... it could be love at first sight... but it could also be a source of disappointment... If you are not able to calibrate it correctly with your camera. No use repeating it... it's obvious... but with high resolution cameras, watch out for the blur...! The lens is not stabilized.. It's heavy.. Appropriate timings should be set.

fujifilm_gf110_f2wrFujifilm GF 110mm f/2 R LM WR

Pros: Open f2.0, excellent sharpness even at TA, fantastic bokeh, three-dimensional, 77mm filters (easy to find), acceptable weight and dimensions for a mf

Cons: There is no stabilizer (present on the 120 f4.0 Macro), minimum distance of maf, high cost.

Opinion: I got this jewel for a whole week-end, of course with the GFX 50s camera. If you want to use it with open diaphragms, and at short distances you have to pay close attention to the focus, so the pdc is really reduced, the results are, in my opinion, excellent, superior to my opinion any combination of FF / fixed lens . rnIt is not only the sharpness, but excellent, the main parameter of evaluation; here comes into play a "different" impact, difficult to explain in words. There is a three-dimensional feel of soft and gradual transition from the focus plane, which I have not yet found in other images obtained with high-level cmq combinations (Eos 5d MK4 + 85 1,4 Art) that I used in direct comparison with the ML Fuji. rnIt is very high but not aggressive, this is the definition that best suits my feelings. It would be interesting to have a direct comparison with the Nikon D850 + (85 1,4 G ..?) .. to see how much is% 3B able to compete .. rnIn the "Portrait and Fashion" gallery you can find some images entitled "Ludovica" rn

fujifilm_gfx50sFujifilm GFX 50S

Pros: Files with a feared detail ... Excellent sharpness, three-dimensionality, all-in-one body light enough, simple and intuitive use, at least for basic adjustments. Easy to get the right exposure, .. to make a photo mistake you have to engage ..! rnLens 120mm macro: fabulous ..!

Cons: I should say the price, but it would be trivial ...! Poor autonomy .. on a Pro body like this should be at least double; Unexpectedly high NOISE for such a format .. At 3200 ISO you start to see it, 6400 is well perceivable. Optical equipment for now low, you feel the lack of a telezoom. The standard zoom is only 2x (equivalent to about 24-50mm). Flash sync limited to 1/125 "(for now) .RAF heavy files, if stored in a non-compressed version (about 117 Mb each). Fine-tuned computers are needed for file editing.

Opinion: I had the opportunity to try it for three days, thanks to the "Try and Buy" campaign that Fuji Italia is promoting in collaboration with selected retailers. In my opinion, it is a camera that has great potential but suffers a bit of "vices of youth"; it still has to "grow" a bit ... to solve, with future updates, the negative aspects I have reported; among these are the low flash sync speeds, and the presence of sensitivity noise that we could almost define as "standard" today. rn I would buy ..? difficult to answer TODAY. Undoubtedly the files are very beautiful ... I used it during a shooting with a model in Florence. Autofocus, although not a lightning strike, is very accurate, and activating the detection of faces (and possibly face + eyes) .., the car focuses almost always at the desired point: a nice comfort when working fast .. wedding type, so to give an example. The titothe chronicle .. I have "dug" many more photos with the 5D MK4, although it has a much faster and more sensible AF, largely because of my fault ... because I did not always change the shots I remember moving the point Focus. The face detection on the Fuji makes it possible to remedy these problems ... although this function slows down the focus speed as the machine must "look" first where the face or eyes of the person portrayed. In any case, for now it costs too much, and the optics I have tried are not bright: f 4.0 for both 32-64 and 120 macros. It's coming a 110 mm f 2.0. It's a shame that for it it will have to be ready to pay about 3.000 € .. even though I have no doubt about the quality of the results. Decisively negative in terms of autonomy ... Keep in mind that on the mirrorless APS-C to hold bulky little batteries, but on a clearly professional vocation machine like this, with qI just "made" 380 shots, and I had to charge the battery twice ... not really. It is a problem to solve, it is not permissible to spend 10,000 and pass € (for the body and a couple of optics), and have to settle for such limited autonomy ... or have to make a generous escort of batteries ...! Otherwise, it's a shortcoming, the flash sync to 1/125 ".. working outdoors in full sunlight ... to clear the shadows you need to close the diaphragm to such values ??as to preclude any selective control of the depth of field ... rnWhat you have noticed, this is not a technical review .. I was interested in highlighting the impressions of an occasional use. rnUPDATE .. 20/11 / 2017rnConfirm the limitation of the flash synchro to 1/125 "... Here the Fuji must find a remedy, perhaps enabling the machine to the HSS function already present on most FF reflexes. I do not think that technically the fact of the larger sensor is an obstaclensormontabile; working with lenses like the 110mm f2.0 and having to work with the free hand flash ... to be forced to use the 125 ° can lead to the risk of moving photos (or cmq with a moving component due to ambient light). In order to work safely in freehand, this camera serves enough space for cmq to be able to use safety times; obviously you can raise the ISO .. but it is not always the best option ...

nikon_105dcNikon AF 105mm f/2 D DC

Pros: Flawless construction, built-in lampshade, excellent sharpness, but "discreet", not as aggressive as some newer optics.

Cons: Needs careful focus calibration. Activating the defocus unfortunately the sharpness is also affected on the plane of m.a.f.

Opinion: I used it earlier on the D700, and I loved it. Very sharp, but made "delicate", very pleasant, never "aggressive". The D750 I own now is much more demanding... and I struggled to find an acceptable fine-fire adjustment. I almost always use it with the defocus in a neutral position (disabled), because some home tests have shown that the drop in sharpness is conspicuously noticeable even on the focus plane. I have no idea if it's a common feature... or if it is a problem of the specimen in my possession. I'm going to have to know... UPDATE.i.A. I recommend, to those who plan to buy it, to try it on their own camera, in order to ascertain the presence of front /Back focus. For this reason I highly recommend its use on cameras with fine calibration, since otherwise any problems mentioned above, are difficult to solve even at the service centers (reliable source: technician of Nital origin) Fortunately the specimen I currently have is perfect. even on the D850, very "demanding" camera.
