tamron_28-75_f2-8rxdTamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III RXD

Pros: True handyman. Distance of focus, value for money, weight and size, aberrations little present.

Cons: Vignetting

Opinion: Updated review, after intensive use in August and July. The premise: I use this optics on a Sony A7III, paired with a Samyang 35mm f/1.4. Being used to the quality of a fixed, although not "premium", like the Samyang, I felt a bit the difference in "optical" quality, but I declare i am satisfied. The main strengths are: AF totally silent and fast, the EYE AF works very well (even in poor light conditions. Minimum focus distance, and is perhaps the main reason why I opted for this goal, since it is the icing on the cake that makes this optics a complete all-rounder (sure, do not expect the quality of a 90mm f/2.8 G Master, but it also seems obvious). Weight and lightness, content for the optics that is; mounted on the Sony A7III is balanced with the body. The sharpness is very good, although it did not leave me impressed as I would have expected from various reviews that describe it as "extremely sharp"; however personally I am fine with that, and I find it very good already at TA. Design, because this lens seems to me built "with brain", that precise choices have been made (materials, focal, etc...) to get to offer excellent optical qualities at a very low price, offering certain characteristics (weight and lightness in the first place) that the rival G Master does not offer (of course). Chromatic aberrations. I don't know if having the Samyang in my hand, which suffers some of it, I'm "used badly", or I have a lucky sample, but I never had any problems, not even at TA. The points I consider "neutral" are: - TA vignette. Nothing excessive: it is present and corrects itself with a click in post production, but for the price is the very acceptable. Construction. The lens is made of plastic, as is the lampshade. It may not please the most "squeamish", but personally it still gives me a very good feeling, and honestly if you are looking for all these optical qualities and a proper construction, you have to release more money. "The lens is moisture-resistant," which means everything and nothing. A guy who makes videos on YouTube (Sebastiano Chiari) took him with him to Iceland without any problems; however, I would not use it as a "battle" goal: if your needs are high, I would orient myself towards the G Master. Is it a shame he's not as tropicalized as brother G Master? Of course, if he were tropicalized as his rival, he would have been the top... but it wouldn't cost 750 euros, so you always go back to the quality/price discourse. The "negative" points (nonsense at the end) are: reverse focal dial. It's not that I'm much of a flaw, it's more a personal thing, you get used to it in the end. I also point out that the focus dial is closer to the machine body than the dial to change focal, an "inverse" system, although I personally find it more comfortable as well. I don't find any points against the price: it's not a particularly three-dimensional optics, built with excellent materials, with zero vignettes and distortion. But you still have to consider that it costs 750-800 euros: there are no alternatives, and I would say that it already offers a lot for what it costs. So, the talk is simple: if you can't afford a G Master, but look for an optician that can do everything, thanks to the minimum focus distance, the 2.8 diaphragm and the usual zoom focal (a little less wide-angle than usual), counting that the weight for you it is important, then I highly recommend the purchase. Otherwise, if you are looking for the highest quality, you will take a fixed or the G Master.

sony_a7iiiSony A7 III

Pros: All

Cons: Messed up menu, non-tilting screen (but not necessary).

Opinion: Personally, it is the most balanced purchase that can exist in this band. It ' great both the photo and video compartment (there is the 4k to 60fps but I do not think it is fundamental). The thing that surprised me most perhaps is the weight, really content. The ergonomics are very good, the handle is very comfortable. Having used in my life only SLR cameras (Nikon D3300 and sometimes a Canon 6d), I admire the electronic viewfinder and the ability to preview how it will show the image. It's a very comfortable and efficient thing. If we really want to find a flaw, I would say that the screen is not tipper, but I do not find something necessary for those who buy this machine. The menu is messed up, but honestly just put yourself under a few hours, set the appropriate buttons to have your favorite commands at your fingertips and you are riding. All the features not mentioned in this review are excellent, excellent, excellent. Extremely satisfied, great job Sony!

samyang_fe35_f1-4afSamyang FE 35mm f/1.4 AF

Pros: Value for money, bokeh, sharpness (not exaggerated, but great), microcontrast, reliable and fast enough AF.

Cons: AF noisy for videos, update only via special lens station.

Opinion: I update this review after 9 months of use and the first summer holidays, where I made quite intense use of it. Paid 370 th of luck on Amazon's warehouse, a real deal. Specific that was my first lens for the Sony A7III, since the lens kit I mounted once and then I closed it in the drawer forever. Now I have expanded the optical fleet with a 28-75mm f/2.8 Tamron. For the price, I could not really ask for more: - Excellent sharpness - but not exaggerated as in Sigma Art - already at full opening - Convincing construction (style in line with the Sony A7III and is metal), although the speech is related to the band in which it is placed. - Weight and size in line with the category - taking into account that it is an f/1.4 and is built of metal (and it is also ecomcomic). Hard to expect more. - Feeling personally pleasant with the wide focus dial (WARNING: many of you may find it too soft, but personally I prefer this solution). Contrast and microcontrast. - Contained distortion and very small vignette, even at full opening. - AF really very good: I realize only now since I could compare it with the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 (updated to the latest firmware version) with the eye AF of the Sony A7III then it is a joy - even in situations where brightness is scarce. - Colors returned warm and "convincing" compared to rivals, which in my opinion marry better for portraits (it is however a very personal discourse). Bokeh is difficult to assess as objectively as possible, as the assessment is very personal. I find it personally great, it makes me want to always keep the diaphragm at f/1.4 and to enjoy the blur. Chromatic aberrations present in the most complex situations, but nothing excessive given the band (I saw do much worse from the Zeiss 55mm f/1.8, although it is a "premium" lens), so I do not place this as a merit nor as a defect, but as a "normal" feature that you would expect from such a lens. The only defects, in relation to price, that I would like to point out are: - AF-C during videos and noise of the AF engine. I'm not a video maker, but let's say this lens is not a choice to consider if you want to focus on the videos. - Update only via lens station. Ok, I'm "only 60", but having to buy a Samyang lens station to update a lens that stands as a "cheap alternative" to rivals Sigma, Sony&Co, does not seem personally a noteworthy cunning. In conclusion, this is a great lens for those who, like me, found themselves a little short of budget, having to invest not a little money in the machine body and starting from 0 for the slow kit - without giving up the optical quality anyway. I'm glad I found it on offer and to have it in my hands, I consider myself more than satisfied.

sony_fe28-70ossSony FE 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS

Pros: Cost if taken in kit (since usually the difference is paltry), weight.

Cons: It doesn't make any sense to pair it with Sony a7 for photos

Opinion: Purchased only because the body-only version and the one with this kit lens cost the same (Sony a7M3), time 2 photos and already has the dust above: it is a lens to be mounted on an entry level of 200-300 euros, not on a higher end. The quality is low, really too low: in addition to being plastic (which, for what it costs I would not expect), as you might expect it is unluminous, unclear, little three-dimensional, little everything. I really can't make sense of this optics for photos: mounting such a lens on a Sony a7 II/a7 iii and the R sisters, it's like buying a Ferrari and mounting on Chinese tires bought at a discount at the mall. I am not a fanatic of the equipment, in fact, however, I admit that this lens almost makes me miss the desire to photograph, for this is closed in the box. With regard to the videos, I do not know too much about it, but from what I have experienced/discussed with acquaintances who attend the scope, it is not so bad in this area to begin: it has optical stabilization, the dimensions at the various focalties do not change so much that you have to recalibrate a possible gimbal and the AF, although it is not lightning, thanks perhaps also to the Sony bodies, if it gets away; so, in this field maybe it is a little more usable, although a fixed goal, even the most scranided and economical, I am sure it is 100 times better.
