canon_15_fisheyeCanon EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye

Pros: Excellent resolution at the edges what is not common for fisheye, made excellent optics

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: I apologize but I bought the FD version and this I speak even though I think Canon has at least maintained the standard even for the latest autofocus version. The FD also has three filters in it, which can be inserted by dedicated dial (orange yellow and red) that are very practical to use in the b/n. Great for photos of architecture and landscape very valid for close-up close-ups with a focus background. I understand the difficulties in autofocus as even in the manual version it is not always easy. After all, it is a 15 mm f2.8 and the depth of field excels at all diaphragms. I bought it almost new at 300 degrees, a real Gem of Canon.

leica_21_f3-4super-elmarLeica Super-Elmar-M 21mm f/3.4 ASPH

Pros: Optical quality, lightness, ease of use while being a manual focus, compactness, price

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: The lens is superb in all respects. The use with the Sony sensor makes it even more efficient in my experience. It makes me smile at the possibility of correcting the yield of the lens through the software of the parent company, as Leica has always been number one for optics. I hardly believe that the designers thought of correcting the intrinsic optical rendering of this masterpiece. I used the lens in extreme light conditions such as the photos in against the sun without having any decay of the image or what to say you want to defect. I have not yet been able to verify, despite having tried on several occasions, the presence of the infamous purple halos at the edges due to a hypothetical chromatic aberration. I'm thinking that from the first specimens onwards the Leica solved the problem if ever there had been. Since with other objectives it is easy to check the presence of these halos , I thought that maybe the thing concerned some specimens maybe of the first products. The use with the Sony sensor is superb to say the least! I find it hard to think that by putting together the best 21mm lens to date with the best sensor you have non-amazing results. I have three other Leica M optics (35 summicron, 50 aposummicron, 75 aposummicron) and an R (180 mm f.34 Apotelyt) and with all I have excellent results to say the least. The price of this optic is not very high considering the yield (2700-3000 euros) is the asking price for many other professional autofocus optics. This goal, however, proves to be a number one. Finally, the lightness of these optics allows me to take them all with me on trips because, apart from the 180, the other 4 plus the Sony body do not exceed two kg.

leica_summicron-m_75_f2Leica APO Summicron-M 75mm f/2 ASPH

Pros: The optical yield

Cons: The price

Opinion: This focal length is perfect for many types of photos, especially street photografy. The lens is perfect I use it with the Sony alpha 7R II. The images it offers are amazing. The focus is precise and the mechanics are fantastic. In short, the characteristics of a leic lens are all there. Very beautiful interpretation of the colors, this is also a characteristic of Leica lenses.

leica_50_f2summicronLeica APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH

Pros: practically perfect lenses

Cons: Price. The Leica Store sells it for around € 7,500

Opinion: Simply perfect, you would want to leave everything else at home, even the summicron apo 75 mm asph, if it were not that this focal length is perfect for many types of photos. I use it with the Sony alpha 7 R II and the results are amazing. This coupled can take pictures with a definition of my sight. Perfect in every detail. The price is the sore point, I tried to buy it in the parallel market, but nothing to do. To have it during the summer holidays I had to look for it at a leica store and even there it took some time to get it. In short it is a rare gem.

leica_summicron35_f2Leica Summicron-M 35mm f/2.0

Pros: Very well-defined, great lenses as in the Leica tradition, made at the maximum openness, lightweight, docile to the touch, Leica colors especially the red bead is unsurpassed.

Cons: Vignette slightly open. Vintage effect not bad though.

Opinion: A dream of a goal, a turning point in my photographic history, the first kodacrhome that I took to Venice was stratospheric. Another planet. Thanks Leica !!!!!!!! A real show. With this mounted on a Leica M4-2 and with the legendary Kodakrome 25 asa pulled to 32 aces unsurpassed. I own it since 1988, amazing with the micro 4/3 in version 70mm f2. A loyal travel companion. Going to the Sony alpha 7r II I found that I missed the 70 mm and then I bought the Apo Summicron 75 mm asph. Obviously with micro 4/3 there is no trace of vignetting. It uses the central part of the lenses, so the maximum for this appplicazione.
