sony_fe28-60Sony FE 28-60mm f/4-5.6

Pros: Compact, sharp, economical

Cons: No hood, it's only a 2x

Opinion: The objective is very compact and I think this is its greatest merit. Combined with the 6400 were a fabulous pairing. Now, sold the 6400 is in combination with the a7iv. I bought it new at 250 € and I think it was a good buy. I also appreciate the sharpness, the coverage of the entire sensor without creating showy vignetting typical of "cheap" lenses and the absence of showy flares. On the other hand I want to point out the fact that it is sold without a hood (I bought a magnetic hood, a "cinesata" the JJC-LH-S2860 from a few euros but functional) and that this lens is only a 2x, therefore competing with brighter fixed, performing but more expensive!

sony_18-135ossSony E 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS

Pros: Focal excursion, weight, autofocus.

Cons: Plastic construction, sharpness, 18 mm that do NOT cover the sensor frame

Opinion: Good lightweight and versatile travel zoom. Used for panoramas from the best to F8 and is ideal for generalist use. Unfortunately, from the idea of a low-robust and plastic zoom and, above all, at 18mm it highlights a clear design error: the lens does NOT cover the size of the sensor and in raw format leaves the four edges out of the frame.

sigma_100-400dnSigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS C

Pros: Lightweight, Crisp, Carefully Built, Great Q/P Ratio

Cons: Lack of tripod ring, Zoom lock only at rest (at 100mm)

Opinion: I have had this lens for a few months and I have to say that I am very satisfied. I found myself buying an alternative ML system to the 7Dii + sigma 150-600S choosing lightness without giving up quality. This lens combined with the Sony a6400 is for me an ideal solution for those who find themselves hiking in the mountains but do not want to carry useless weights. It is sharp at every focal length (perhaps it loses a little at 400mm when compared to the Canon 400L f.5.6 that I own), has a fast and good AF that I personally use only for the central points, has a valid quality of construction for a lens that Sigma has cataloged as a "C" series and an unsurpassed Q /P ratio. Compared to the same GM model as Sony, it holds up the comparison in every field leaving forum discussions to the fanboys. I found it in bad taste not to use the typical case of Sigma lenses which for this lens is absent. The lack of a tripod ring is also noticeable, but I personally use it exclusively by freehand.

sigma_150-600sSigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM S

Pros: Construction, AF speed, focal length, sharpness, price, stabilization.

Cons: Weight, precision AF, Lens hood and bedcover, optical block.

Opinion: I have been using the Sigma 150-600s for about three years and have been able to test it in different environments and conditions. The lens is solid and professional, of excellent workmanship and aesthetically pleasing. Among the positive notes its sharpness, especially in the short/medium distances, which combined with the stabilization give the possibility of good shots. Even at 600 the AF is sufficiently fast but not always accurate. Although rarely, in burst shots I get perfect/blurry hunger in the same sequence of photos. The calibration of the AF I performed at home with the dock and, albeit simple to do, was not a quick thing. As pointed out by all is a heavy lens, not suitable for any circumstance. I paid a new price that I think is honest and I think I made a good purchase. A reprimand for the hood and lens cover. Sigma you could invent something different and better than the half-pipe stove protected by a curtain.

panasonic_tz40Panasonic Lumix TZ40 / ZS30

Pros: Zoom quality (eq. 24-480), great full HD movies (1920x1080), good picture stabilizer.

Cons: Photo quality and sharpness from 200 ISO up, save only in Jpeg, useless GPS and "mangiacatteria"

Opinion: I have this compact for three years and I have to say I'm happy with the purchase. I have been able to appreciate the compactness and quality of the images (photos) especially at low ISO. But the quality of video footage is great. This compact has basically replaced the Sony camera I had before. I always take it with me in a car drawer and I prefer, for convenience, to any subnet smartphone.rnI did not appreciate the fact that it does not save raw files. I'm getting my hands on the elaborations on Photoshop and working exclusively on jpegs is limiting.rnOther thing for me useless is the GPS.

olympus_40-150Olympus Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/4.0-5.6

Pros: Compact, good zoom range, price

Cons: is part of the kit, not among the best optics provided by Olympus

Opinion: I use it for years with the E-410. Coupled with the 14-42 is the 'standard optical sold in kit. Clearly it is exceeded by more optical performance but more expensive. I continue to use it because in a world of lens coating, camera bodies fiction is nice to have an old car and a lens that does not betray you ever! Combined with the E-410 becomes a zoom by almost 300mm, good in many situations. I take it for walks where other foreign car I would become cumbersome and try shots, fired at random could be embarrassing. NON never betrays.
