![]() | Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Pros: Lightness, stabilization, price Cons: Sharpness, construction, vignetting Opinion: Canon 18-55 was my first lens, mounted on my first SLR, the Canon 1000D. Thanks to this lens, I had the opportunity to learn the basics of photography and composition. The versatility of the zoom allowed me to experiment with different focal lengths without having to change lenses, a great advantage for those approaching this world. Over time, however, its main characteristics – lightness, stabilization and affordable price – have lost importance, while the technical limitations have become evident. The lens struggles to deliver satisfactory results in many situations: in low-light environments, during fast shots, or when working handheld. Poor sharpness in low light conditions and difficulty in maintaining precise focus are its main weaknesses. Despite this, the 18-55 was instrumental in helping me understand what type of optics I wanted for the future and how best to handle the light. Its limitations pushed me to improve and look for tools that better suited my needs. For those just starting out, it remains a viable option for learning and experimenting. sent on January 02, 2025 |
![]() | Canon 5D Mark II Pros: RAW files, price(used),simple, robust, battery life Cons: Iso too high, file shadow recovery, , AF points other than the center one Opinion: After years of using the Canon EOS 1000D, switching to the 5D Mark II was a step change. The difference in image quality and user experience is impressive, making this model an excellent choice for those looking for a full-frame DSLR capable of offering high-quality files at an affordable price today. The Canon 5D Mark II is a camera that has made history and that, despite its technological limitations compared to newer models, still offers high-level image quality today. The rendering of colors and files is simply exceptional. The tones are natural and well-balanced, and the dynamic range allows you to capture plenty of detail, both in the shadows and highlights. The camera is certainly heavy, but I find it very comfortable to hold thanks to its well-thought-out ergonomics. It conveys a feeling of solidity and security during use. The autofocus, especially on points other than the center one, is sometimes a bit slow or uncertain, especially in low light conditions. Although the quality is excellent up to ISO 800-1600, beyond this threshold the noise becomes progressively noticeable, limiting use in low-light situations without accessories such as a flash or very bright lenses. A step up from the 1000D: Going from the 1000D to the 5D Mark II was like stepping into another dimension. File quality, color rendition, and overall performance are on a completely different level. The Canon 5D Mark II is a camera that continues to amaze me every time I use it. The transition from the 1000D allowed me to appreciate even more the importance of a good full-frame sensor and the optical quality offered by EF lenses. Despite some shortcomings compared to more modern cameras, it remains a fantastic choice for those who want to focus on image quality and the pure photographic experience. sent on December 31, 2024 |
![]() | Canon 1000D Pros: Lightweight, compact, easy to use, with adequate image quality to get you started. Ideal for those looking for an economical and intuitive product, with a fairly long battery life. Cons: Not very robust materials, limited autofocus, maximum ISO sensitivity of 1600 with evident noise already at ISO 400. It lacks SPOT mode and Live View is without autofocus. The burst is slow, the shutter noisy, and it doesn't record video. Opinion: Canon 1000D - My first DSLR The Canon 1000D was my first DSLR, a perfect travel companion to start exploring the world of photography. With its lightness and ease of use, it taught me the basics and allowed me to shoot with satisfaction despite its limitations. While not an advanced camera, it was more than enough to make me understand composition, exposure and technique. The image quality is good for beginners, and the price made it affordable. It is not without flaws, but it has been able to make me grow photographically step by step. Perfect for starting, but his limitations are felt as he grows up as a photographer. A great school to learn! sent on December 30, 2024 |
![]() | Canon EF 28-90mm f/4-5.6 II USM Pros: Cheap, lightweight and on full frame it has great sharpness for the price Cons: Vignetting, very plasticky Opinion: The competitive price makes it an attractive option for those looking for a versatile lens without breaking the bank. With a compact design and low weight, it is ideal for photographers who need portable equipment. It surprises with image quality, offering sharpness more than adequate for the price, especially on full-frame sensors. Noticeable vignetting is noticeable, especially at wider apertures, which may require corrections in post-production. The plastic construction contributes to the lightness, but sacrifices the feeling of robustness and build quality. Conclusion: The Canon RF 28-90mm is a practical option for those looking for an affordable and high-performance lens, especially for use that is not too demanding. The optical quality is more than satisfactory for its price, despite the compromises on construction and some optical aberrations. sent on December 28, 2024 |
