Poor sharpness in low light conditions and difficulty in maintaining precise focus are its main weaknesses. Despite this, the 18-55 was instrumental in helping me understand what type of optics I wanted for the future and how best to handle the light. Its limitations pushed me to improve and look for tools that better suited my needs. For those just starting out, it remains a viable option for learning and experimenting.

The STM focus satisfied me, you can take the photos without worrying too much about using a 150€ lens. For family or amateur use it is more than fine, and since you do so much portraits with an 18-55, I would say that f4, however dark, is a value in this case. Taken new at 100€, tried and kept for personal pleasure.
