![]() | Contax G2 Pros: Small, very unobtrusive. Extremely sharp Zeiss lenses. Superb viewfinder, balanced for each lens fitted. very good battery life Cons: you need to understand how the contrast detection works- if it doesn't lock focus in landscape mode, shift to portrait, and it will lock focus;just a knack of working with the camera. Opinion: personally, i love the camera; i also have the G1, which I keep fitted with the 21mmf2.8, and the special viewfinder; you get some amazing razor sharp images with this combination ! Alto gether, an ideal travel camera- the 90mm and the 45mm F2 are amazing lenses, very sharp. loading of film is simplicity itself- put the filmin, extend up to the mark, close camera, and the film advances to position 1, and when it reaches 37, auto rewind ! Viewfinder very easy to use, prived you keep your nose out of the way ! The Zeiss lenses really are superb, the only ones I haven't tried are the super expensive 16mm Hologon, and the 35mm F2. I can't really advise on the 35-70, it is too slow to be practical. sent on January 26, 2014 |
![]() | Minolta 7D Pros: Beautifully made camera, very easy to use, very logical set up. uses CF cards, easy to load, easy to release. fairly large screen for reviewing images; works best with top range lenses- Hunts a bit with the 400 APO High speed, but superb when you add APO 1.4 converter ! Cons: If you use a high capacity 10 series CF card, takes quite a long time to set up; after 3 shots, buffer slows down considerably; hunts quite a bit before AF locks onRather noisy when focussing. Opinion: I still use my 7d for all my nature shots; I use it with a Sony 500AF Mirror lens, and the combination is superb. And you can hand hold it, the anti shake really works !I have a canon 5d 11, and I use the sony/7d in preference, due to the weight saving and usability. A real pity that minolta left the scene ! I have had the combination serviced by a minolta technician, and it is right on the money, even after this elapsed time; very sturdy camera, and once you get used to the Mirror lens, it turns out some superb photos. you can use it in manual form, but it is not so accurate as the A/F- you get a red rectangle which lights up when focus achieved. sent on December 23, 2013 |
![]() | Fujifilm X-PRO1 Pros: Very substantial body, fine lenses- I have the 35mm F1.4, and 18-55mm; you do need to read the manual thoroughly for best results. Cons: There is a need to have every firmware upgrade; Fuji must be congratulated on providing the means to keep at the forefront of progress; I do think that using a tripod suits the camera format for best results. Opinion: I traded my M6 for the X Pro-1, and I have not regretted it at all; I sold images made with the camera within several hours of acquiring it- surely proof of the pudding ! I found that due to having very large hands, it was necessary to get the grip, which transformed the camera for me, and i also got the thumbs up to fit in the flash bracket; again, a superb piece of kit. Overall, I am pleased with the camera- I will eventually get the 14mm lens, and then I think that wiill be my walkaround outfit ! sent on December 23, 2013 |
