![]() | Benro GH2 Pros: Relatively good robustness; cost Cons: Fluidity; weight... Opinion: I've been using this gimbal for a year now and I have to admit that for this price range it's not bad at all. There is nothing wrong with it except for a few elements that could have been improved; But for this price, you can't ask for more. I have used this gimbal with different lenses such as: 300 2.8, 100 400... And it performs pretty well. For wildlife photography, this gimbal is great if you are interested in a good product at a relatively low price. If you are interested in something better, I recommend the following: SIRUI PH 30, LEOFOTO PG1, GITZO GHFG1, WIMBERELY WH200, PROMEDIA GEAR KATANA JUNIOR, BENRO GH5C, BENRO GH5C MINI... There are several gimbals, some with little panning regulation and others that allow for more precise adjustment. This gimbal does not allow a precise panning adjustment and the tilt mechanism has a bit of play when not fully tightened, which is quite normal for this type of gimbal. In short, this is a good gimbal even to use with fairly heavy lenses; The Benro GH2 doesn't really have any major flaws and doesn't excel at anything special. If you want a medium-solid gimbal that can handle weights over 4kg without any problems and that fits within a budget of 300 €, this is practically the only one that falls into all these features. I've used it in the snow and rain without ever encountering any problems, so the durability of this gimbal may be the only thing it "excels" at for me. sent on December 31, 2023 |
![]() | Canon EF 1.4x III Pros: No significant loss of focus speed; slight image quality decay; lightness; compactness. Cons: Nobody. Opinion: I've been using this extender for almost a year on a 100 400 ii and a 300 2.8 ii and it has positively surprised me with regard to maintaining excellent image quality and a good focusing speed. On my 100 400 ii I notice a slight drop in image that often makes me prefer the smooth use of the lens; While on my 300 2.8 II the sharpness remains nothing short of exceptional. With the extender the diaphragm of my 300 becomes f4 wide open which I prefer, always or almost, to close to 5.6 to get more sharpness. sent on December 31, 2023 |
![]() | Canon EOS R7 Pros: Sensor density; APS C ; autofocus responsiveness; lightness; dynamic range which, despite being limited, is sufficient for me; 4k crop; Wheel placed at the top to surround the joystick (which I prefer over the one at the bottom of the R5, R6...) Photo video switch; video capabilities; precapture. Cons: Aps c (depending on the point of view) ; inconsistent autofocus especially in low-light conditions; resistance to ISO; battery life; no battery grip; absence of a third wheel, which makes it difficult to operate completely manually; Opinion: I've been using this camera for about a year now and despite its many flaws I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good aps c in this price range. The biggest flaw and the one I would like to talk about is the autofocus which is more reactive than that of an r5 in recognizing the animal but also much more inconsistent and prone not to be very sticky. In low light conditions the autofocus really struggles but after a lot of practice on the menu settings I was able to increase the success rate thus reducing the out-of-focus results. The autofocus with the electronic shutter works better, but you encounter rather heavy image distortions that tend to be very noticeable on moving animals; with the electronic shutter first curtain you avoid these distortions and still have a good autofocus; I don't recommend the mechanical shutter because the rate of out-of-focus photos is higher. If you use high frames, the photos in focus decrease strangely compared to using a few frames per second. As for the iso resistance, I have to admit that I got amazing results even at iso 5000 but only with light backgrounds and subjects that filled the frame; as for the other situations I would not exceed 3200 iso whose file after a pass on DXO PURE RAW 3 is very clean. Video skills are the best thing about this camera, although I have to admit that I don't do a lot of videos and that despite testing a lot of features, I've never really been interested in this area. The r7 remains an excellent camera that, despite its flaws, surpasses in performance any aps c reflex that has ever existed; And even if I feel like recommending it for nature photography, I feel that a choice like : R5, R6 II... is more appropriate and can bring better results... As for the size, I find it a bit small but still usable without too many problems. The sensor of this camera has the right density to allow us a fast workflow of work and files that are not too heavy (the sensor is an important improvement compared to that of the 90d/7dii...). sent on December 30, 2023 |
![]() | Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM II Pros: Sharpness; Compactness, image stabilization, autofocus, robustness. Cons: Very short bracket; weight not too well distributed. Opinion: I've been using this lens for about a year on an r7 on which I alternate this lens and a 300 2.8 ii. The autofocus has positively surprised me especially those few times I have used it on r5; Image stabilization is excellent in combination with the ibises of the R7/R5. The sharpness is impressive even if less punchy than the new RF 100 500. With the 1.4x iii extender it maintains a good autofocus even if the image quality suffers if you leave the aperture open at f8; while if you close to f11 it gains a little and the photo becomes very expendable again. The thing I love most about this lens is the compactness that makes it adaptable to any camera backpack. One thing that immediately annoyed me is the length of the bracket which is too short to make it easy to carry; But it is at least removable (which is not possible on the new 200 800 RF). This is for me a fantastic lens that despite its "age" continues to be one of the best of the canon l series and that still leaves me no reason to switch to the new 100 500 which, although sharper and slightly lighter, remains too dark for my use especially for the low resistance to high ISO of my r7, whose file above ISO 3200 is difficult to use. sent on December 25, 2023 |
