Canon 50D Pros: Durable camera body, simple and intuitive menu, great features if you are looking for a pure and simple camera Cons: ISO above 1600 unmanageable, grommets (interfaces, powergrips etc) that tend to crumble, ignition switch in unfortunate position Opinion: The machine, even if it is its age, can still be satisfying. I decided to get it after seeing the ridiculous amount requested in a flea market: 50€. It would have been a shame not to take advantage of it! 35,000 round shots, three batteries and three CF included, grip on the fly. I put a canon 50mm f1.8 stm on it and it's giving its best; It has now become the everyday camera. Despite having a 5D IV and a 7D II (coming from years with 7D I and 300D) that I use with great satisfaction, this 50D is particularly striking me because of its simplicity and ease of use! Then something fundamental for me: a pure camera... No useless features for videos and more. Recommended for a beginner who perhaps has to learn the basics of photography and wants to practice, or for those who already have bodies and want something to use every day: if you find one in good condition under € 100 it is still a bargain, far superior to today's entry level. Despite being a tank, unfortunately age is felt on the materials, removed the body which is perfect, the soft rubber parts (interface covers, lower connector covers, hole cover for dummy battery, eyepiece) have crumbled: no problem, with a quick search on the internet it was possible to order spare parts for about € 15, shipping included. sent on March 06, 2024 |
