![]() | Nikon Z5 Pros: Image quality, full-frame sensor, dual SD card slots, weight and ergonomics, electronic viewfinder with 3.69 million dots and 100% coverage, high ISO capability, intuitive key placement Cons: No consideration of price/performance ratio Opinion: The Nikon Z5 is an all-rounder camera dedicated mainly to photography; video shooting is secondary. I have been in possession of it for two years when it was given to me for my birthday and it surprised me a lot as I already had the Z6II. The first thought was to give it back to a dealer and exchange it for some lens but I immediately changed my mind as soon as I had to test it. The parent company - at the time - presented it as 'Entry Level' but, trying it, you immediately realize that it has something more than the "basic" models, designed for beginners: it has a double slot for memory cards, the ability to shoot 4K videos, it has a high-resolution electronic viewfinder that returns clear images, in-camera stabilizer and is sealed against dust and humidity as well as other several features taken directly from its older sister Z6. The Z5's 24.3MP sensor has almost the same resolution as the Z6's (from 24.5MP)The 0.2MP difference results in 6,016×4,016-pixel images for the Z5, compared to 6,048×4,024 for the Z6. However, photos from the two cameras can be printed at the same resolution or cropped without the slightest difference. Having evaluated everything, I kept it as a second body alongside the Z6II and I use it alternating it indifferently with the latter. Ultimately, I'm more than happy with it and, probably, if the Nikon Z5II comes out, I could consider replacing it to have an updated camera body. sent on March 15, 2025 |
![]() | Venus Laowa 9mm f/5.6 FF RL Pros: Ultra-wide angle of view of 135°, focusing just 12 cm from the sensor almost as much as a macro lens, weight and size, well-built optical cap that can be removed and put on with excellent grip, fluid rings: that of the apertures has a shutter at every notch, great sharpness in the center of the frame already at f 5.6, Contained chromatic aberration, 10-point star effect on point lights, build quality, creativity Cons: Barrel distortion differs depending on the focusing distance and at the minimum it is very conspicuous, light sources can create flashes and pentagon-shaped ghost effects, sharpness at the edges within the limits of sufficiency, light fall at the corners. Opinion: I bought this new lens with native Z mount attracted by the curiosity to shoot with such an extreme wide-angle lens, suitable for some landscape photos and for building interiors where even the normal wide focal lengths (starting from 12 mm) are often small. I must say that the very first shots had left me a little perplexed but then I changed my mind quite a bit also thanks to the advice, comparison and exchange of opinions I had with my friend Alessio Riboni whom I thank once again. So: it is certainly a unique lens to achieve which Laowa engineers, wanting to obtain a 'glass' capable of embracing such an extreme field, had to compromise in terms of sharpness and brightness at the edges as well as distortion. In order to get the most out of it, for photos where there are geometric lines (churches, building interiors, etc.), I recommend the use of a tripod and that the camera is in perfect level. Anyway, it is a lens that gives great satisfaction for those who 'love' ultra wide lenses! As soon as I have some shots I will post them in order to give a concrete idea of what this lens can do. sent on February 02, 2025 |
![]() | Venus Laowa FF II 10mm f/2.8 AF Pros: / Cons: / Opinion: @Luca Maresca you only confirm what you have already heard both on this space and directly from other photographers. I was someone who was anxiously waiting to buy it, month after month, but then I started to pull the brakes and now I have decided not to buy it anymore. I'll probably head for the 9mm. which seems to be pretty good and also costs considerably less! To hell with the AF, with such a short focal length is practically useless ... sent on July 28, 2024 |
![]() | TTArtisan 100mm f/2.8 Bubble Bokeh Pros: Sturdy aircraft-grade aluminum construction, low weight and size, honest shots that are still worth the money spent on the purchase Cons: No electrical dialogue with the camera, no stabilization, no Exif, minimum focus distance 90 cm Opinion: Picked up today in the shop, obviously the one with screw connection 42, I ran home and, mounted on the Z6 II with K&F Concept adapter, I tried several shots on the terrace of the house with different times and apertures both in backlight and in direct light. Not even the shadow of the flaunted "bubbles" effect but only a background with normal blur, albeit very pleasant. Probably, I'll make a mistake, or I'll need special shooting conditions and/or precautions ... Has anyone tried it? Thus, without having yet achieved the effect for which it is advertised, I attribute a skimpy sufficiency: 6.0/10; if I get the famous 'Bubble Bokeh' the rating will definitely increase. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Today, November 26th, I finally managed to get on several shots... the background with the famous 'bubbles'! I caught the rays of the sun grazing on the terrace of the house and the lens did the rest; The result is eye-catching! Therefore, as promised, I raised the score, previously assigned, to 8. Here's one of the pics I posted here on juza: https://www.juzaphoto.com/galleria.php?l=it&t=4677043 sent on November 24, 2023 |
![]() | Nikon Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR Pros: Solid and robust construction, small size and weight for a lens like this, internal zoom and focus mechanisms, VR optical stabilization integrated into the lens, remarkable sharpness at all focal lengths, excellent value for money, compatibility with 1.4x and 2x teleconverters with Z mount (even if this involves reducing the aperture by one or two f/stops). Cons: None, taking into account the relatively 'cheap' cost compared to other Nikon lenses. The exception is the case not up to the product. Opinion: Purchased a few days ago, I took some shots from the terrace of the house waiting to test it on birds and also on the moon: The first impressions are all positive (as indicated in the Pro section) and even the freehand use was well manageable with an excellent lens / camera balance. In my opinion, it deserves a score of 9.6/10 sent on October 15, 2023 |
![]() | Nikon AF 16mm f/2.8 D Fisheye Pros: High-level lens, light and not very shaded but robust construction. Sharpness and flare resistance, Cons: Nothing Opinion: Purchased back in 1995, I still find it an excellent lens despite the many years since it came out. It is mainly recommended for architectural and interior photography but can also be used to create particular and unusual images. Very light and space-saving fits in a pocket! It almost looks like a toy, but it is not: it returns great and impressive photos. sent on March 26, 2023 |
![]() | Nikon Z 40mm f/2 Pros: Exceptional price/performance ratio. Sharpness. Tropicalization. Cons: Nothing taking into account the above. To look for the classic hair in the egg, good autofocus but not a splinter; lack of a dedicated hood included in the package. Opinion: I bought before Christmas the Nikkor Z 40/2 and I must say immediately that, after three months, the judgment is very positive and overall satisfies me. The focal length of 40 mm you have to get used to, being about halfway between the most "normal" focal lengths of 35 mm and 50 mm that photographers are used to but, after a first use, you get used to it immediately (at least so it was for me). Very convenient price and also the relationship with the performance that is obtained; therefore, the "quarrel" about the "plasticity" of the construction is useless. Optically it is very sharp in the center practically on the entire frame, even when shooting at f/2; the performance at the edges is, however, optimal from f/4 to f/11. The best total results are obtained at f 5.6 - 8 Beautiful blurry. When I go out with the camera without a precise target, I have always mounted it and it pays off in terms of lightness, small footprint and - if necessary - brilliant performance. In short, a compact and lightweight lens ideal as a main walking lens or as a light second lens. sent on March 09, 2022 |
![]() | Nikon Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S Pros: Breathtaking performance on different photographic genres: from portrait to landscape, up to macro/close up where the 1:1 factor makes it reach a fantastic detail. Absence of aberrations and distortions. Af doesn't miss a beat. Objective that can not be missing in the kit of the professional and the advanced amateur photographer Cons: Don't have it Opinion: Bought a few days ago, I'm still testing it but the results achieved so far have excited me. Superior to the counterpart F and Sigma of equal focal length and aperture. It is a lens with important dimensions such as its performance, measuring 85 mm x 140 mm, for a total weight of 630 grams, resulting reliable and well balanced. In my opinion, to put it in summary, Nikon has churned out a sumptuous lens! sent on December 03, 2021 |
![]() | Viltrox AF 85mm f/1.8 II Pros: Metal construction, beautiful; blurry, sharpness, very competitive price, fast AF Cons: Nobody Opinion: This morning I purchased this objective recommended to me by Mr. Guido di Ottica Universitaria here in Rome with whom I befriended after purchasing the Nikon Z6 II bodysuit from his store. By telephone, he had explained to me the merits of this perspective by inviting me to go to the store to evaluate in person. Well, he was right! Meanwhile, the lens is well packed in a double heavy cardboard package, accompanying there are a small pocket of microfiber, a sheet with instructions in English, a card for registering the warranty. Solid construction and really well made all in metal, including flange; heavy, I think, the right. From the few test shots the lens was very very responsive in the very precise and at the same time silent focus; truly sharpness at the highest levels and splendid boken. I do not think we can expect any more than this price! sent on March 27, 2021 |
![]() | Zeiss Jena Tessar 50mm f/2.8 Pros: Very compact and light, remarkable quality even for the present day, beautiful bokeh even with "soap bubbles", excellent readability of lights and shadows, very intense colors. Cons: Nothing, given the palious cost for a goal! Opinion: Recently bought, in black version with screw attack 42, at a few tens of euros, surprised me pleasantly. High resolution especially central but starting at f/5.6, under that diaphragm is relatively soft. It provides excellent results in closed diaphragms macro shots (mounted inverted or with classic extension tubes), for its performance in the finest details. A miscousation for a few euros that pays off a lot in terms of satisfaction! sent on May 10, 2020 |
![]() | Nikon D850 Pros: All Cons: Nothing basically. Wanting to split the hair, in live view does not behave very well, remaining a step behind the Dual Pixel system of Canon ... but we're really finding the straw in the eye... Opinion: at a time when mirrorless people are gusting to establish themselves as "The Cameras" tout court, I chose it again and regained it after the theft of the one I had before. Not surprisingly, at the official presentation, it was christened with the motto "I am the difference", that is, "I am the one that makes the difference". The Nikon D850 encompasses all the current top of the Japanese company's technology concentrated in a single camera partly borrowing it from the flagship D5; compared to the D810, it was a real quantum leap. I do not dwell on the technical features now archnote, I emphasize how the image quality is superb at low ISO and how, with optimal light, the Nikon D850 offers performance close to the "medium format". The color range is amazing, the colors exceptional, the sharpness surprising, both in portraits and in landscapes. IN SHORT, A CAMERA THAT REPRESENTS A MILESTONE OF NIKON HOUSE AND BEYOND! sent on May 04, 2020 |
