tamron_24-70_f2-8vc_g2 Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2

Pros: Build quality, optical quality and stabilizer

Cons: All things considered, absolutely nothing.

Opinion: Given that I was looking for a 24-70 f2.8 to match the D750, I was oriented on the Nikon AF-S G ED (no vr). After noticing on two specimens the extreme fragility that led to the lens misalignment, I decided to change address and orient myself towards this Tamron G2. What can I say, a whole other planet! Right from the start, the feeling was much better. Optically, the classic test at 24mm f2.8 perfectly orthogonal to a wall and enjoying the fact that in the 4 corners the sharpness is the same, as well as decidedly good. Once this is done, fine adjustment autofocus... left at zero as it is free of f/b focus. Great indeed! After that I tried the stabilizer, even though I know that I will use it very little, but just to test that it worked normally... and it's really crazy, tested at 1/15 at 70mm. without a minimum of micro-blur. Vignetting at 24mm. F2.8 is there, but with a click in post it falls into place without any problem. Then, the hood lock button (as well as the Nikon), plus there is the zoom ring lock and trivially the thicker front cap, which is better taken with your fingers than the thinner Nikon caps. Although the lens is stockier than the Nikon, but shorter, it remains much more balanced on cameras like my D750. In addition, the tropicalization is decidedly excellent. In short, personally I am fully satisfied and I give him a nice 10 and praise.

nikon_coolpix_p7800 Nikon Coolpix P7800

Pros: Portability, silence, dedicated rings and buttons, raw files, both build and file quality, viewfinder, external flash shoe, filter thread.

Cons: None, for the type of camera. Only a certain operational slowness.

Opinion: Purchased three years ago to be used on the beach and for discreet street, it turned out to be a much more advanced compact in its category, almost a cross between compact and mirrorless. I shoot always and only in raw and up to 800 iso the quality of the files is very good, discreetly recoverable up to 1600 iso with the right tools in postproduction. Being able to mount the front filters is a real treat, as well as the shoe for an external flash that works perfectly in ttl. The double ring, the dial to correct the exposure and two partially programmable fn buttons, allow a very fast use even in completely manual mode, without having to go through the menus. The battery, the same used in the D3xxx and D5xxx series, guarantees a great autonomy, especially using the new EN-EL14a versions. The fully flip-up display is an added advantage in some situations with awkward shooting points. The lens also deserves a note of merit, a 28-200mm equivalent. f/2-4 that performs very well and that allows you to take home a wide variety of shots with a decent quality. Not bad also the ND filter function that allows you to extend the shutter speed by three stops. In light and disengaged outings she is always in my purse, discreet and always ready to capture a decisive moment.

nikon_18-70dx Nikon AF-S DX 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 G ED

Pros: Cheap, lightweight and fair value for money.

Cons: In relation to its constructive economy, objectively I do not find any cons.

Opinion: I purchased this lens purely for use on a modified D70 IR 720nm. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality that can be achieved with what, years ago was the economical kit lens of this machine. No hot spots at any focal length, not even f/16. For those who want to approach this fantastic photographic genre, I think there is nothing else so cheap and at the same time so discreet. Vote 9.

nikon_28-85 Nikon AF 28-85mm f/3.5-4.5

Pros: Everything that a handyman of those years can have, and he is cheap...

Cons: For the era in which it was designed and marketed, absolutely nothing!

Opinion: A historic all-rounder, not surprisingly produced for 13 years. Robust and mechanically very good. Fluid and precise rings. Af not particularly fast, but more than enough to bring home great shots. It returns excellent colors and resolution, not as sharp as modern lenses, it also allows digital cameras to get very delicate shots. I use it on digital as on mechanical fm and totally manual. Really satisfied.
