Pros: Light. Sturdy. Very good image quality. Great LCD screen. Very easy to use. Outstanding macro quality.

Cons: A bit slow. Only 28mm at wide angle. Poor control/button response.

It is not quite as good as Canon G3 mechanically and the buttons on the back of the camera tend to not record our menu choices when pressed. Image quality is outstanding from such a small sensor. Only in contrasty lights you can see any artefacts, or 'halos'. It is super easy to use, very small and light and very well built. Images from the camera match images from much newer Fuji X-T1 that we also use now (we are testing cameras now, before making a decision for our future needs). I actually think the jpegs are better that those from the Fuji. I hope Nikon will make a new version of this camera soon, just this time I want 24 mm at the wide end and better quality buttons.

Being able to mount the front filters is a real treat, as well as the shoe for an external flash that works perfectly in ttl. The double ring, the dial to correct the exposure and two partially programmable fn buttons, allow a very fast use even in completely manual mode, without having to go through the menus. The battery, the same used in the D3xxx and D5xxx series, guarantees a great autonomy, especially using the new EN-EL14a versions. The fully flip-up display is an added advantage in some situations with awkward shooting points. The lens also deserves a note of merit, a 28-200mm equivalent. f/2-4 that performs very well and that allows you to take home a wide variety of shots with a decent quality. Not bad also the ND filter function that allows you to extend the shutter speed by three stops. In light and disengaged outings she is always in my purse, discreet and always ready to capture a decisive moment.
