![]() | Nikon AF 35-70mm f/2.8 Pros: Compact, durable, crisp, bright, high quality/price ratio, fast AF (AF-D version) Cons: Low flare resistance, limited focal range Opinion: Bought at less than €200 used, in excellent condition (AF-D version). Old Pro Optics with a construction that communicates solidity and resistance. Zoom mechanism with particular pump and subject to "ingestion" of dust. Rotating front lens, so be careful to use circular polarizers. Between ƒ/2.8 and ƒ/4 detectable chromatic aberration, easily correctable in PP. Fast Autofocus, even if not the same as the current AF-S, and also quite noisy (watch out for videos). Macro functionality without AF, a bit complicated in focus, gives a very soft fuzzy. The tightness on the backlight is very bad, you have to pay attention to the parasitic light and often use a hood to avoid falls of contrast even with minimal lateral illumination. My specimen does not have opacification of the posterior doublet, but it is a common problem to be taken into account for this objective. sent on February 21, 2019 |
![]() | Nikon AF 70-210mm f/4 Pros: Sturdiness, colour rendering, construction and value for money Cons: TA marked chromatic aberration (especially at 210mm), slowness AF, absence VR, rotating front lens (attention with CPL) Opinion: Bought used for €150 in excellent condition. Robustness and construction from battlefield. Excellent color rendition, not too vintage. Very light zoom ring, it almost seems to be broken, but in reality it is an advantage because zooming in becomes very fast. The autofocus is slow in big changes of focus, while if the distances are short it becomes acceptable, it still remains a little noisy. The front lens rotates and becomes problematic to use circular polarizers. At ƒ/4 A 210mm the chromatic aberration becomes evident, but easily solvable in PP. The bokeh that it can give is still good and soft. It's not stabilized, but for the price and age it has, it's not a problem. sent on February 21, 2019 |
