![]() | Canon 7D Pros: Sensationally well made body, fast for its age, ergonomic, both EF and EF-s lenses can be mounted Cons: Few focus points, noise at low ISO, not simple camera Opinion: I've had this machine for almost fifteen years. I recently used it with the Canon L-series 100 -400 for safaris taking advantage of the crop factor of the APS-C. With good lenses, it gives images that are still very up-to-date. The body is resoundingly sturdy. All this time and it is still in perfect condition. The 7fps burst is superior to many modern DSLR competitors. In the hand, especially if you mount the battery grip, it looks like a flagship. Ergonomic and well-designed, you can comfortably use all the buttons and controls on the body. The double mount allows you to use all lenses in the EF and EF-s lens range. Unfortunately to date it is decidedly dated for the focus points (only 9) and the ISO which, exceeded 400 already show a strong presence of noise in the shadows and make the file unusable at ISO 1600. The menu is simple, but with such a limitation of ISO it becomes difficult to manage and often forces you to find compromises. I would say that nowadays, considering how much it costs in the second-hand market, it is an excellent machine for learning and teaching. sent on June 28, 2024 |
![]() | Canon 6D Mark II Pros: Ergonomic body, Full Frame, AWB, colors, intuitive menu. Cons: No joystick, fast 1/4000 time, focus points all in the center, burst. Opinion: I come from an old Canon 7D and have been using this camera for 5 years now. Definitely a small but ergonomic camera, with good autofocus and able to offer a clean file with fantastic colors. The AWB is handled very well as the ISO is more than sufficient (you don't notice the noise until ISO 3600, then it starts to get worse. Experimenting I noticed that at ISO 10000 the file is unusable but you never use this sensitivity so ok) and the MPixels perfect for a FF that knows how to do its job very well. The machine is very good overall and in relation to the price. You miss the Joystick at first, but then you get used to it. Fast times of up to 1/4000 and burst of up to 6 fps make it unsuitable for nature and/or sports use. The real trauma is in the focus points that are too crowded in the center of the image and often force you to have to focus and reframe the scene if you want to focus on something just outside the center of the frame. sent on June 18, 2024 |
