![]() | Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Pros: Lightweight - compact - bright Cons: 6-blade diaphragm - focus breathing Opinion: Bought for Fuji system. Very satisfied because of the lightness and compactness. Manual focusing is never a problem with these focal lengths and with a mirrorless. The image quality is very good, and it never disappointed me. Very valid also in the night photos of the Milky Way and the starry sky, where it does not leave stricated up to 20-25 seconds of exposure. Over time I have also been able to discover what for me are the two main defects, which may or may not matter depending on the photographic genre that is preferred: 1) the 6-blade diaphragm makes the bright spots at night like six-pointed stars. Ugly. an extra lamella would have been enough to switch to 14 points. 2) I tried to do focus stacking in panoramic images and it is practically impossible, because the two photos (with the focus on the foreground and the one on infinity) do not overlap (focus breathing: the focal length changes as you change the focus). sent on March 08, 2022 |
![]() | Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Pros: Lightness, made at the focal points "short", stabilization. Cons: Economic construction. Bokeh. Opinion: The lens I most regret about the Canon APS-C kit I sold. Very light, small in size, with a negligible yield. He loses a little at the longer focal points. Stabilisation is very effective. Easy to get with these very blurry background focals, although the bokeh is a little confusing and not always very pleasant. Stabilisation is very effective. I also had the old 55 250 non STM and this version is definitely superior. The biggest flaw is the economic construction from which a certain fragility results. A specimen fell on me and the diaphragm slats broke. Given the cost of the repair, the price of the new and my satisfaction in using it I immediately bought a new specimen! sent on December 02, 2020 |
![]() | Tamron SP 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II LD Pros: Fantastic in backlights; sharp; internal focus; compact (for an f2.8) Cons: Is missing; construction not impeccable; limited to 50mm; Af noisy. Opinion: I had for several years this optics (sold only when I changed system). It was the most used lens in my kit. To be a fixed 2.8 zoom is quite compact. The quality of the image has always satisfied me, especially in the backlights where it has always been very resistant to flares and very contrasted. The construction was not flawless (the filter carrier loosened and I had to redo it; the rubber part of the zoom was not fixed perfectly), but in substance it never gave me any problems. Sure, is missing, but I've never regretted its lack too much since the VERSION with IS is bigger (and, from reviews I've read, even less sharp). sent on November 02, 2020 |
![]() | Tokina AT-X Pro 11-16mm f/2.8 DX II Pros: Brightness, solidity of construction, image quality Cons: weight, flare Opinion: I owned this optics for several years, and then I only sold it for system change. Used almost always at 11mm, it always satisfied me. The Af is quite noisy (but little is used to these focal points). I have always found the quality of the image to be excellent. Cona its brightness also allowed me to take some photos of the Milky Way, despite it being mounted only on a half-format Canon sensor. The construction then inspires absolute confidence about reliability and robustness. The main problem is flares that occur as soon as you find a light source (natural or artificial) at the edges of the image. sent on November 19, 2019 |
