Pros: Small size and weight, silent and fast AF, perfect for taking the hand with certain focal lengths, price

Cons: If you are aware of what you buy: none

Opinion: Purchased for less than 200 euros used by RCE, he accompanied me for two years up and down the mountains and in the racetrack, used with 2000D and 80D he has always defended himself well. The low weight and size make it ideal to slip into the trekking backpack. For what I paid it was more than a faithful companion but at some point you have to if you want to raise the bar you have to deal with a sharpness over 200mm just enough and a sharp drop in brightness, all considerations that in the face of such an "affordable" price take a bit 'the time they find. Sold, by the way, at the same price at which I had bought it to upgrade to a 70-200. Would I buy it again? Absolutely yes especially for trekking where "size matters".

Pros: Lightweight, silent AF, stabilization, versatile

Cons: economic construction, loss of quality (especially sharpness) over 200mm

Opinion: Taken as the first "super-zoom" for Canon APS-C, coupled with the classic 18-55 kit allows you to cover 90% of situations without spending a capital; suitable for those who do not have too many pretensions, this lens guarantees more than discreet performance in conditions of good brightness and with subjects not too far away. The sharpness is discreet, not exciting, even at TA, while there is always a bit of vignetting, instead the chromatic aberrations remain contained; performance drops above 200mm. Very good stabilization, af quite fast and accurate, average reliability. The construction entirely in plastic is not its strong point, on the other hand, thanks to the low weight, the 55-250 is excellent to take on the road and suffers very little from drift phenomena; good the two rings, "light" but not too much. Obviously it is not a bright lens, but on the economic range of Canon it is not better, if not pointing to the new and more expensive 70-300. Advised

Pros: Lightness, sharpness, stabilization

Cons: A bit plastic and nothing else for the price

Opinion: It seems to me a good lens that I used of "forklift" with my second Canon M5 aps-c camera. A combination entrusted to my son that has proven effective even in shed shots (the lens is a 400mm equivalent on aps-c). He asked me to replace it with the more effective EF 70-300 is USM II with Nano USM technology thus reaching 480mm equivalent. The 55-250 is undoubtedly a small gem quite sharp, not very fast, but certainly suitable for photography of fairly static subjects and for a multipurpose use on light and transportable solutions. Highly recommended!

Pros: Price, lightness, focal length range, portability, stabilized, good AF in many situations, quite sharp

Cons: "Plastic" construction quality, hood not included, brightness, not very sharp over 200mm, vignette at maximum focal lengths, color rendering.

Opinion: Excellent purchase as medium-tele to start, also considering the quality / price ratio. I have been using it for two years now and I must say that in "easy" situations it copes quite well (obviously for its price range). I was not thrilled by the "off" colors that it makes to all focal lengths, and the vignetting is very present, although obviously correctable in PP. Comfortable to take with you on excursions as a handyman, easy to use thanks to the generally effective AF. In conclusion, I recommend this lens to those who want to start by spending little, then moving on in the future to better alternatives such as sigma / Tamron / Canon L. Rating:7,5/10
