Il Maestro in questione è Giovanni Umicini, fotografo toscano trasferitosi a Padova nel 1954, che ho avuto la fortuna di incontrare una ventina di anni fa. Grande interprete del bianco&nero, ho un paio di suoi libri fotografici su Padova che conservo con la massima cura e di cui sono gelosissimo. In uno di essi è contenuta una sua foto, presa tra le bancarelle del mercato in Piazza delle Erbe, dove compaiono anche mia moglie ed i miei due figli, allora molto piccoli. Celebre una sua foto in Piazza della Frutta, con il famoso 'Bar dei Osei' a serrande abbassate, ripreso da una prospettiva un po' diversa da questa.
