Dalle mie parti cominciano a spuntare le prime Orchidee selvatiche, delle vere e proprie meraviglie della natura! Quelle che vivono alle nostre latitudini sono quasi tutte geofite( hanno radici sotterranee) mentre pochissime sono epifite (hanno radici aeree).In Italia ne sono state descritte circa 200 tra specie e sottospecie. I loro fiori sono estremamente diversi da specie a specie ed hanno tutti lo scopo di attirare gli insetti, fondamentali per garantire l'impollinazione, anche se alcune specie possono autoimpollinarsi. In particolare nel genere Ophrys , una parte del fiore, il labello, assume l'aspetto dell'addome di un insetto femmina e la pianta produce un odore simile al feromone prodotto da questa per attrarre i maschi e garantire così l'impollinazione.
