Fabriciana adippe ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775) - Famiglia Nymphalidae - Sottofamiglia Heliconiidae - Apertura alare: Da 4,6 a 5,8 cm. - Distribuzione in Italia: Presente in tutte le regioni con esclusione della Sardegna. - Habitat: Prati e incolti soleggiati, dalla pianura a 1800 m. - Periodo di volo: Univoltina da giugno ad agosto. - Pianta alimentare dei bruchi: Varie specie di viole. - Dimorfismo sessuale: Femmina simile al maschio, ma spesso di dimensioni maggiori e senza l'ispessimento nero delle due nervature cubitali sul diritto delle ali anteriori. - Variazioni: Vi sono esemplari sia maschili che femminili senza la serie di aree argentee sul rovescio delle ali posteriori: forma cleodoxa. - Specie simili: Fabriciana niobe che nei maschi non presenta gli inspessimenti costituiti da squame androconiali sulle nervature cubitali del diritto delle ali anteriori. In entrambi i sessi la serie di archetti scuri della banda premarginale, sul rovescio delle ali posteriori, è ben marcata e quella sull'ala anteriore raggiunge sempre l'apice.
