Largo Cairoli. Sabato 30 settembre 2023. 11:16. La scultura in bronzo raffigurante Giuseppe Garibaldi a cavallo è opera dello scultore siciliano Ettore Ximenes (1855-1926); mentre il basamento in granito e marmo venne progettato dall'architetto Guidini. L'inaugurazione risale al novembre 1895. Presso il bordo destro vediamo la Torre del Filarete del Castello Sforzesco; progettata dall'architetto Luca Beltrami (1854-1933) e realizzata tra il 1901 e il 1905; dopo un'accurata ricerca, effettuata dallo stesso Beltrami, sui documenti e sulle fonti iconografiche della torre precedente, realizzata da Antonio Averulino detto il Filarete nel 1452 e crollata nel 1521. Alla sua sinistra è la sommità della Torre di Bona, anch'essa radicalmente restaurata dal Beltrami.
