Sh2-132 è un'estesa e spettacolare nebulosa a emissione visibile nella costellazione di Cefeo. E' denominata “Lion Nebula” dagli anglosassoni poiché la sua forma ricorda quella del re della foresta. Si individua sul bordo meridionale di Cefeo, a breve distanza dal confine con la Lucertola, lungo il piano della Via Lattea all'interno del Braccio di Perseo. Sh2-132 si trova nella regione di Cepheus OB1, un gruppo di stelle giovani, calde e massicce di classe spettrale O e B (da cui il nome) che si trovano entro una ristretta regione di spazio e che emettono una grande quantità di luce ultravioletta che ionizza il gas circostante. Sh2-132 si trova a una distanza stimata tra i 10000 e 12000 AL dal Sistema Solare. Le stelle responsabili della ionizzazione dei suoi gas sono molto calde e massicce; in particolare sono state individuate due stelle di Wolf-Rayet, note con le sigle HD 211564 e HD 211853 (quest'ultima avente anche la sigla WR 153), oltre a una stella di classe spettrale O8.5V e una decina di stelle di classe B. Si ritiene che nella nebulosa abbiano avuto luogo in passato processi di formazione stellare a catena; attualmente questi processi sembrano essere sospesi, dal momento che non vi è traccia di attività recente.
