Una delle conseguenze del cambiamento climatico è che si passa dai continui temporali al caldo afoso. Questo causa molti danni alla natura, gli animali sono confusi e molte specie hanno cominciato con un mese di ritardo il loro ciclo vitale estivo. Anche i macaoni, che incontro ogni anno a metà maggio, sono iniziati a nascere solo da una settimana. Mi sono molto preoccupato quando un mese fa ho trovato solo un bruco e ho visto pochissime farfalle volare. Ma anche questa volta la natura è riuscita ad adattarsi e da una settimana sto allevando 20 macaoni, crescono molto in fretta e 4 bruchi hanno già preparato la crisalide. Sono sfarfallate anche altre due farfalle dalle crisalidi autunnali dello scorso anno. Ho trovato anche più di 20 uova che ora sono negli appositi contenitori in attesa della schiusa. Questi numeri sono comunque inferiori a quelli degli scorsi anni, ma le mie esplorazioni sono appena iniziate e sono convinto che farò tanti altri bellissimi incontri. Intanto come ogni anno nel mio giardino sono fioriti i papaveri, che formano tanti cespugli rossi in mezzo all'orto. Il sole stava tramontando, ero in esplorazione in cerca di animali quando ho visto un macaone nel mio fauna box fermo su uno dei rametti che posiziono verticalmente per consentirgli di costruire la crisalide. Ho deciso di tentare una macro ambientata tra i papaveri, ho preparato tutta l'attrezzatura in fretta sperando che il bruco non si muovesse. Sono riuscito a scattare molte foto, anche con il 200mm per ottenere uno sfondo più delicato. Questa é una delle poche volte che fotografo al tramonto, ormai a causa del caldo gli animali restano nascosti e solo di notte riprendono le loro attività. Anche i bruchi di macaone restano nascosti a causa del caldo e di giorno sto trovando solo le minuscole uova, di notte invece ne incontro tanti mentre mangiano con voracità i finocchietti.
