Lo scorso autunno ho trovato sotto le foglie dei miei broccoli oltre 200 uova di Pieris brassicae, come sempre le ho raccolte con tutta la foglia e posizionate nel mio allevamento. I bruchi si nutrono di Asteraceae e Brassicaceae, soprattutto cavolo e broccoli, per questo sono considerati dannosi per le colture e vengono spesso uccisi dagli agricoltori. Io che disprezzo queste azioni li allevo ogni anno per preservare la specie nelle mie campagne. A causa del cambiamento climatico questo inverno è stato molto mite con tante giornate soleggiate, molte piante sono fiorite in anticipo e anche gli animali sono confusi. Allevo i lepidotteri sempre all'esterno in una zona riparata dalla pioggia, questo perché se tenuti in casa le temperature più alte velocizzano il loro naturale ciclo di vita. Nonostante questo da gennaio a marzo sono nate quasi tutte le farfalle, le ultime rimaste hanno aspettato il mese di aprile. Quasi ogni giorno, al sorgere del sole, le ho portate in giardino per liberarle. Queste sono le prime, nate il 7 gennaio, quella mattina c'era moltissima umidità ed era ancora presto per vederle volare. Ho avuto un po' di tempo per trovare un posatoio adatto, doveva essere abbastanza grande perché volevo fotografarle insieme. Ho usato questo rametto di melo dalla forma particolare, 3 farfalle sono state molto collaborative anche se c'era un leggero vento. Le ho posizionate delicatamente sul rametto e le ho fotografate con il 200mm. Poi ho deciso di scattare questa macro ambientata e ho provato a posizionare la quarta farfalla, che dopo qualche tentativo si è fermata al centro in mezzo alle altre. Intanto i raggi del sole tra gli alberi iniziavano ad illuminare il terreno, sono stato ad osservarle per circa un'ora stupito dalla loro bellezza; poi quando il sole era alto, una alla volta sono volate. Già da qualche anno i segni del cambiamento climatico sono evidenti nelle campagne, quest'anno però la situazione è peggiorata molto e anche il normale ciclo di vita degli animali è cambiato. Dopo un mese di temporali continui, ora è arrivata la siccità e sto trovando tante farfalle di questa specie morte nel terreno a causa del caldo, hanno le ali ancora bellissime, come se fossero appena sfarfallate. Per fortuna quest'anno hanno iniziato presto il loro ciclo vitale...
