The first swallowtail...

Papilio machaon

, 1/40 f/11.0, ISO 100, tripod. Specie: Papilio machaon

Congratulations not only for the photo, beautiful, but also for your commitment and passion that are revealed by the note. I
see my identical attempt to plant and create a safe mini habitat where I can allow these creatures to reproduce and proliferate.
Even here with me (lucania / almost puglia) I'm noticing the same things you say, and also to me three days ago two swallowtails were born that I had found in November, and that spent the winter at my house. I
am confident that soon I will find many ravenous caterpillars on my fennels, and it will happen to you too :-D

A beautiful photo Marco. You will see that butterflies will also adapt. In recent years the drought began in April and insects were very few, even in the mountains of central Italy. This year the windshield shows the presence of many insects, during my travels in the center-south. ;-)

Thank you very much Michele and Claudio for appreciating, I hope to find the little caterpillars soon :-)
You're right Claudio, in recent years also from me many species were rare to meet but the macaons were more numerous, now I'm finding many other particular species but those that were usually more numerous have some adaptation problems.

Hello Mark, don't worry the season is a bit 'behind even from me, I saw only one macaoni. Congratulations for the beautiful macro and always for your commitment as a breeder. A warm greeting, hello Fabrizio.

Hello Fabrizio I'm glad you liked it.
Yes, this year summer is late and the animals are a bit confused.

Beautiful image and composition!
... For breeding maybe you also need a little patience, we hope well come on, I wish you that it goes better and better and that your commitment is rewarded.

Thank you very much Diodato and Alessandro I'm glad you liked it.
When I started breeding them the swallowtails were few, but now they are even fewer.
I hope it's just a temporary problem.

:-o :-o BEAUTIFUL shot to your swallowtail, you will see that others will be born! Of course, climate change is a real problem and also forces insects to adapt. :-o :-o
Congratulations for the photo and for your great passion!
