“Don't leave your tent! There are lions!” Il messaggio di Samwel, la nostra guida, inviato la sera prima, possiamo leggerlo solo al mattino. Anche senza la sua raccomandazione, comunque, non ci saremmo mossi perché eravamo consapevoli della presenza di leoni nel campo, che non è recintato. Li avevamo visti in avvicinamento mentre, qualche ora prima, rientravamo dal nostro giro. E tutta la notte avevano “cantato”, come poeticamente dice Samwel, intorno alla nostra tenda, l'unica occupata in quel periodo. Certo, le tende dei campi del Serengeti sono spesse e robuste, ma in fondo pur sempre di tende si tratta… Il “via libera” ci viene dato alle cinque del mattino, quando i nove (!!!) leoni vengono accompagnati fuori dal campo dalle jeep dello staff. Albeggia appena. Faccio qualche scatto praticamente al buio, mentre il gruppo si allontana. Giusto per poter rivivere quell'emozione.
