L'Ophrys lutea ssp. lutea è una specie a distribuzione mediterranea abbastanza precoce, solitamente fiorisce da metà febbraio ad aprile. La sottospecie nominale ha fiori grandi e gialli, il labello tondeggiante con i lobi molto spesso sovrapposti ed una evidente ginocchiatura alla base (come in Ophrys corsica, mentre in O. sicula non è presente). La cavità stigmatica è a forma di cuore come si può notare dalla foto, con una pelosità rada e biancastra; la macula, colorata di rosso ai lati e bluastra centralmente, non si spinge fino al bordo del labello se non in rarissimi casi, per confronto in O. sicula e in O. corsica molto spesso forma una specie di baffo. Con questa galleria vorrei creare una serie di immagini dal titolo "futuristico" in cui presento dei veri e propri modelli per la specie in questione; intendo sviluppare una serie di primi piani ben dettagliati di ogni pianta con uno sfondo il più possibile piacevole e uniforme.
