Erebia tyndarus (Esper, 1781) Famiglia Nymphalidae Sottofamiglia Satyrinae Apertura alare: Da 2,8 a 3,4 cm. - Distribuzione in Italia: Presente sull'arco alpino dalla Val d'Aosta al settore occidentale dell'Alto Adige. - Habitat: Pendii erbosi ben soleggiati da 1300 sino a 2500 m. - Periodo di volo: Univoltina da fine giugno ad agosto. - Pianta alimentare dei bruchi: Varie graminacee dei generi Festuca e Nardus. - Dimorfismo sessuale: Femmina più chiara, con il rovescio delle ali posteriori grigio, tendente al marrone. - Variazioni: Alcuni esemplari sia maschili che femminili possono essere privi di ocelli. - Specie simili: Erebia cassioides e Erebia arvernensis che si distinguono per gli ocelli grandi sul diritto delle ali anteriori.
