Mauritius: il lago sacro Ganga Talao (Grand Bassin). Ogni anno gli hindu mauriziani si recano a rendere omaggio a Shiva durante le celebrazioni del Maha Shivaratri. Questa grande festa, celebrata tra febbraio e marzo (in funzione del ciclo lunare), è il più importante evento hindu al di fuori dell'India. Il lago ha avuto un'origine vulcanica e si è formato dal cratere di un vulcano ormai inattivo che nel corso dei secoli si è riempito d'acqua. Sulla riva del lago è possibile ammirare vari templi, tra cui Shiv Mandir, dedicato a Shiva, insieme ad altri dedicati a varie divinità come Hanuman, Ganga e Ganesh.
