Augsburg (Augusta) Questo gioiello storico nel cuore della Germania meridionale ha visto e vissuto molte cose nel corso dei secoli: la città è stata costruita pochi anni prima della fine del millennio intorno al 0 a.C. Fondata dall'imperatore romano Augusto con il nome di "Augusta Vindelicum", è quindi non solo la città più antica della Baviera, ma anche la seconda città più antica della Germania. La data ufficiale di fondazione è purtroppo sconosciuta, e gli studiosi ancora oggi discutono su questo punto. Secondo le ultime informazioni, è probabilmente intorno all'8 a.C. Quello che vi propongo oggi, é un particolare del bellissimo altare centrale della Basilica di St. Ulrich und Afra. Vi assicuro che é uno spettacolo come anche tutta la bellissima chiesa. L'altare maggiore, denominato del Presepe, fu realizzato nel 1604, come i due altari a navata trasversale, dallo scultore di Weilheimer Hans Degler (1564-1635). Il progetto è attribuito a Hans Krumper (1570-1634). A differenza degli altari laterali a quattro piani, l'altare maggiore si sviluppa su cinque piani. La rappresentazione centrale dell'altare mostra l'evento natalizio, la nascita di Cristo nella stalla di Betlemme. Colgo l'occasione per augurarvi ogni bene in un mondo lontano da guerre e da sedicenti pandemie. Nell'augurare a tutti quanti un buon Santo Natale e Felice Anno Nuovo, mi permetto di inserire qui alcune parole del Papa: • " In questo giorno solenne risuona l'annuncio dell'Angelo ed è invito anche per noi, uomini e donne del terzo millennio, ad accogliere il Salvatore.
