My first snowy owl (Bubo Scandiacus)...

Gufi

My first snowy owl (Bubo Scandiacus) sent on December 08, 2022 (8:53) by DrChris.. 28 comments, 724 views. [retina]

con Canon EF 1.4x III, 1/1250 f/5.6, ISO 4000, tripod. Specie: Bubo scandiacus

#wild #Ilovewild.

Thanks Fabio, I'll definitely come back to see if it's still in the same place, there' there are many mice and I think it's fine. The hope is that it will find a partner to mate in spring, from the plumage it is seen that it is a young specimen.
In the United States and Canada there are much more, for a fee there are tour operators who know where they are and have them photographed. I understand it's not the same thing cmq.

Congratulations, it is a dream for anyone who loves nocturnal birds of prey, unfortunately this time did not bring come, I made a little thought but it is impossible, I will have to "settle" for gray.
If you stop in the area some more time I wish you to be able to return to make some more shots ;-)

Thank you! I hope so, maybe I'll come back early next week. Unfortunately it is quite a lot from Helsinki, yesterday it was a struggle, wake up at 4 and travel of almost 4 hours. But it was worth it. If the grey returns to Helsinki we will let you know ;-)

Congratulations for the "capture" !! I absolutely understand you, last year I managed for the first time to take decent pictures of the "Snowy Owl" and it's kind of a drug :-D They are wonderful!
Here in Massachusetts they have just arrived and some of my friends have already managed to photograph them on the coast between Massachusetts and New Hampshire. I'm waiting for a favorable weekend to take a ride, two weeks ago I already tried but without success. For me it's only about forty minutes by car, so it's much more feasible.
Congratulations again.

I
had inquired and was planning to come there in case I didn't see him here in Finland. In the United States and Canada they are much more widespread, fortunately. They are also located in New York. I agree they are really unique birds of prey.
Thank you for your welcome message ;-)

Yes, I confirm that here they are much more common, in Canada then they are seen a bit everywhere.
I hope to have some new photos to post in the coming months ;-)
They usually stay until the beginning of March.
Tim
