San Gottardo al Corso a Milano è a pochi passi da piazza XXIV Maggio e dalla Darsena. San Gottardo non ha bellezze cittadine, solo vecchi e meravigliosi cortili completamente dimenticati. È una strada dove si viene per lo shopping e per l'aperitivo o il famoso Happy hour per esprimerci come i giovani. Non ci meraviglia quindi che questa chiesa non sia particolarmente conosciuta ed apprezzata. Tuttavia spendere due parole è necessario e giusto, innanzitutto il nome della chiesa è molto simile a San Gottardo al Corso (chiesa che si trova a fianco del Duomo), chiarimento utile a non confondervi. San Gottardo al Corso viene menzionata per la prima volta come oratorio dei Benedettini sul finire del '300. Quasi due secoli dopo, San Carlo Borromeo decise di riedificarla e promuoverla a parrocchia fuori dalla mura. Non deve quindi sorprendere la grandezza dell'edificio: era la parrocchia di una zona molto vasta. Opportuno ricordare che qui, all'epoca, eravamo fuori dalle mura cittadine e per la precisioni fuori dal sestiere di Porta Ticinese. Proprio per questo motivo divenne fondamentale per tutta la comunità che qui viveva. La facciata così come la vediamo oggi, è una ristrutturazione della fine del 1800, e vi hanno lavorato: Giuseppe Catiglioni per un primo rifacimento e decorazioni pittoriche; Carlo Cereda in fase di ampliamento della chiesa; Luigi Morgari e Luigi Valtorta per ulteriori decorazioni Provate a fare un salto quando siete da queste parti; lo ripetiamo: la strada da fare, partendo per esempio dalla darsena è davvero poca.
