Come ogni anno all'inizio di novembre , in occasione della celebrazione della festa dell'unità nazionale e delle forze armate , abitando poco distante mi è quasi d'obbligo un passaggio nei luoghi in cui furono combattute alcune delle più feroci battaglie della grande guerra , qui in località S. Martino del carso , il cippo posto a ricordo dei valorosi fanti della brigata Sassari .... , poveri ragazzi strappati alle loro famiglie per essere spediti in prima linea a contrapporsi ad altrettanti poveri ragazzi loro coetanei ma di altra bandiera .... , uniti loro malgrado nel perpetuare l'atroce e infinita stupidita della guerra .
