... then I take it off .... sent on August 09, 2022 (14:26) by Paolo P. 46 comments, 1438 views. [retina]

at 55mm, 1/640 f/11.0, ISO 400, hand held.

Natrix natrix, young specimen. common name biscia d'acqua, note particular the natrice uses as a weapon of defense defecate on the aggressor, the substance emitted is extremely smelly to make the enemy move away.

Here, just find the person with the necessary competence ...
Thank you and, although not scary I am a little quieter knowing the identity of the guest (as long as he is a guest in the garden and not in the house).
A cordial greeting.
Paolo
Considering what you tell me about defensive strategies... I think I was not considered an enemy.

Never chase away a guest and it is a problem not to be able to ask for his name and introduce himself! Hello. Magú

I have one that houses in the garden ... once a year (in the months of June or July) it comes out of I do not even know where, leaves the skin (1.20 meters long) and then disappears for another year. Once there was a very close accidental encounter, I fell on my feet from a wall frightened by my sudden presence and ran away at such a speed that I did in time only to understand what it was, I do not know if it is poisonous but it did not seem aggressive at all :-)

Well the important thing is that it is not poisonous and you know what your (uninvited) guest is :-D Have a nice day dear friend

Rosario,

thanks to you all for passage and comments.
A cordial greeting.
Paolo
*When I lived in Pavia, for some years I had two (biacchi) in the garden; one, about one and a half meters was at the bottom, far from the house (Clement was the snake), the other, smaller (Clementino the serpentine, a meter just at the last molt) was always on the small flowerbed overlooking the entrance where I had some roses and two lavender bushes. After countless collapses of guests to whom he did the honors, I decided to remove the lavender bushes where he found refuge.
