Ganzirri è un villaggio che fa parte del Comune di Messina, eretto sulla estrema punta nord della Sicilia, su di un lembo di terra compreso tra il litorale dello Stretto di Messina ed i due laghi salmastri di Ganzirri. I ganzirroti sono nella tradizione, divisi in due fazioni. I pescatori, dediti soprattutto alla pesca al pesce spada, in transito nelle acque dello stretto di Messina ed i “cocciolari” dediti alla coltivazione dei molluschi (cozze e vongole) nelle acque dei due laghi. I pescatori esercitano un'attività simile alla caccia. La molluschicultura, invece somiglia più ad una attività agricola.
