Miniera di San Leone Concessa al francese Léon Gouin a metà Ottocento, la miniera di ferro è rimasta attiva fino al 1963 ed oggi nel suo ampio territorio sono state impiantate colture arboree produttive che hanno parzialmente rimodificato il paesaggio alterato dagli imponenti scavi a cielo aperto. I fabbricati della miniera risalgono a due momenti: a quello più antico appartiene la direzione che ha due piani con semplici finestre e balconi, ricoperti da un tetto a spioventi. Il villaggio moderno ha diverse abitazioni ormai abbandonate. È decisamente più interessante il poderoso impianto di trattamento elettromagnetico risalente agli anni cinquanta del Novecento con grandi volumi squadrati, disposti a livelli diversi e realizzati con strutture in cemento armato a vista. Tra questi spicca il grande pilone d'appoggio alle scale in ferro visibili all'esterno. La miniera fa parte del Parco Geominerario, Storico e Ambientale della Sardegna, riconosciuto dall'UNESCO.La miniera è situata in un'enclave amministrativa di Assemini all'interno del territorio di Capoterra.
