Colle Palatino di Roma. Qui l'imperatore Augusto fece costruire il suo palazzo. La sua scelta venne seguita dai suoi successori e così sorsero diversi palazzi che trasformarono il Palatino in un unico grande complesso: la fastosa residenza imperiale che finì per essere chiamata con il nome stesso del colle, diventando il "Palazzo" per eccellenza (il termine "palazzo" deriva infatti da Palatium, nome latino del colle). In lontananza si vede la Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano.
