A Cassolnovo eravamo arrivati per ben altro motivo. Antonio, fotografo "in pensione" e attento osservatore del "suo" territorio ci aveva contattati per una serata di presentazione del nostro primo libro sul Ticino. Da allora è passato tanto tempo, e tante cose sono cambiate in quei posti. Quella serata del mese di luglio ci trovavamo nella sala comunale del simpatico paesino diviso dalla città di Vigevano da un ponte sul fiume. Ci aveva avvertiti Antonio: sappiate però che in quel periodo dell'anno ci sono tanti "muschitt". Mai avremmo pensato che dietro ad una simile affermazione che suonava quasi simpatica e certo poco insidiosa, si nascondesse un vero e proprio flagello di fameliche zanzare che senza autorizzazione si presero il nostro sangue quanto bastava per il lustro successivo. Dietro i ghigni sommessi dei Cassolesi, evidentemente abituati alla sottile tortura. Comunque passò, e l'occasione ci fu propizia per sorseggiare un buon bicchiere di Bonarda con il famoso salame d'oca, e conoscere i costumi e il carattere gioviale di "quelli di Casòl". Con Antonio invece, ci organizzammo per fotografare un "barcè", tipica imbarcazione da fiume stretta e lunga, con il fondo piatto. Il suo amico Fregosi ne possedeva una ormeggiata in una lanca a pochi chilometri da Cassolnovo. Il mattino del barcè, dall'Antonio arrivammo in ritardo. Per puro caso vedemmo emergere dalla nebbia solo la sommità del suo capo, dello stesso identico colore. Infreddolito, sul marciapiede di via Palestro, ci aspettava da chissà quanto tempo ignaro di quello che avrebbe provato salendo sull'auto del Luzzini, che non aveva certo dimenticato lo scherzo dei "muschitt". "Sun pena rivà", sono appena arrivato, disse senza convinzione. Salì velocemente in auto, ma non ebbe nemmeno il tempo di chiudere la portiera che le ruote presero a sgommare sull'asfalto scivoloso, fermando la loro corsa dopo vari "controsterzi" sulla strada sterrata che porta alla baracca del Fregosi. "Non si può entrare", tentò di proferire, ma l'auto non lo ascoltò. Alla fine ci trovammo, dopo un ultimo "testa-coda" pericolosamente sul ciglio di un fosso, con una ruota nel fango e l'altra che girava a vuoto nell'aria; appena in tempo per qualche scatto, con l'amico Antonio, attonito sul sedile posteriore, che ancora cercava di capire cosa gli fosse capitato.
