Siracusa, Parco Archeologico della Neapolis. Grotta dei Cordari perchè qui, a partire dal XVII° secolo, alcuni artigiani lavoravano la canapa e producevano corde di ogni tipo, favoriti dalla naturale umidità (la tradizione si è estinta solo pochi decenni fa).Di amplissime proporzioni, con una successione di pareti e di spazi, dalla volta sorretta da alti pilastri rocciosi, questa grotta è sicuramente la più suggestiva della Latomia del Paradiso. Questi effetti vengono maggiormente esaltati quando il fondo è coperto di acque meteoriche o di falda che provengono da infiltrazioni della volta. Notevoli e distintissimi sono i segni dell'estrazione della pietra, sulle pareti e sui soffitti si osserva la successione dei piani di stacco dei blocchi asportati dal banco roccioso. Segue verso est la grotta del Salnitro la cui imboccatura è in parte coperta da un gigantesco masso crollato dalla volta, sul quale sono visibili, in forma quasi di gradinate, i piani di stacco dei blochi calcarei.
