at 18mm, 30 sec f/3.5, ISO 2000, tripod. Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso, Italy.

Settembre 2012.

The photo I like ... I would not put that first lit up there quite out of place in my opinion!
Greetings

Thanks for the compliments.
I had to insert an element illuminated because the lens that I used has not the possibility to put the focus at infinity. As a result I needed to compose the picture of the presence of something to attach to the auto focus.
Personally I do not disregard the presence of that element illuminated the rock. I come off well against the rest of the photograph, a warm note.
However, I appreciate your feedback.
Thanks again and hello!

Environment and very nice time, but the first floor so enlightened in my opinion just does not fit .. Have you tried with fire in manual?

A praise to the emotions that you have lived, transpires between the lines of your caption all the passion you put into this release and I appreciate this so much.
Technically, however, you notice a few flaws that I think are mainly due to the limits of your equipment mainly optics.

30 seconds for a 18 that on aps-c is a 24mm are too many and here's the stars streaked
having to raise the iso due to the reduced aperture you have generated noise in the shadows, and in an attempt to reduce it to me and you've overdone it a bit too smoothed image.
to the first floor also I see a little too bright, too diverts attention from the starlit sky.

All these signs are dictated solely by my personal taste, you decide if tenErle into consideration or not.

a greeting, simone

Thanks and thanks Goshawk Commissioner. I tried to do the best I could with the equipment available and with my ability. I had the need to illuminate something in the composition because the autofocus would not otherwise be able to dialog box will appear nothing.
Thanks again and Happy New Year to all.

the "problem" of autofocus, is easily solved: how did you do the lights foreground elements, put on fire and then put the focus manually and remove the light source, so when you take the MAF does not change.

Congratulations on your description and enthusiasm that made me relive some moments when I tried this summer too, my first night photos. I also used a 18-105 then I tried with a 50, I did the accounts, but I held open too and the stars have come ribbed, but what a thrill to be out there and find out that my Nikon is able to capture the light of millions of stars so far from me.
Focus on the brightest stars can be a solution, then check the live view and make more shots, do not focus to infinity and found the best solution, move in and do not touch the manual focus. Magnificent mountains and the starry sky behind.
