Da Nord a Sud lungo le coste della Sardegna sono censite circa 105 torri ubicate in vari punti strategici. Due di queste sono la Torre Airadu (o torre Bianca o Torre di Mezzo) e sullo sfondo la Torre Negra o Torre di Spagna, che insieme alla torre di Bantine Sale costituivano il trio di Torri la cui funzione era di avvistamento, segnalazione e comunicazione nella baia di Porto Ferro.La loro costruzione è risalente al periodo di Filippo II per proteggere l'isola dalle incursioni saracene. Purtroppo tutte e tre le torri sono attualmente in pessimo stato di conservazione.
