Le Capillas de Marmol è universalmente riconosciuto come uno dei tesori naturali più remoti al mondo. Si tratta di una serie di caverne scolpite nel Lago General Carrera, sulla Carretera Austral. Siamo nella Patagonia Aysén.. Questo sito meraviglioso si è formato nel corso dei millenni a causa dell'erosione delle scogliere di carbonato di calcio per effetto delle onde. Si trova in posizione splendida lungo le rive a strapiombo del Lago General Carrera, le cui gelide acque alimentate dai ghiacciai sfoggiano un ingannevole colore caraibico. Per raggiungere il lago bisogna viaggiare per parecchie ore lungo il tragitto accidentato della Carretera Austral, l'unica strada che collega le isolate comunità della Patagonia settentrionale con il resto del mondo. All'interno delle grotte si accede con piccole imbarcazioni o kayak. Come le grotte, anche il viaggio regala immagini straordinarie .
